Winter service drivers...?

Job add online asking for winter maintenance treatment drivers ? am gessing this is gritting the roads on frosty nights.

IF anyone knows the crack wth this kind of work, what its like an how it works as its saying drivers need " city and guilds winter service operative accreditation" ■■

Dose anyone know what this is ? and if so how and where do you get this from ? gessing its not part of cpc. Any feed back on this would be handy. thanks all.

Hi JRT, yeah they advertise up here for gritters as well. Ive thought about putting in for it but havent up to now. I might give it a shot though if I see anything.

Im not qualified though. We didnt do “city and guilds winter service operative accreditation” at our school.

yer if thay did it at my school I must have bin off that day ! It sounds like some thing that you have to get from a collage on a week long corse. proberly cost £ 500 too :open_mouth:

A certificate to say that you are qualified to put some grit on the road when its cold enough to fall on your arse?

But only for daytime drivers. Night time drivers aren’t important enough to need treated roads :imp:

You might get some DCPC out of it ,check with JAUPT first though.

you have have winter service card city guilds lasts 3 years1 day practical 1 day driving then
separate card for snow plough I day course city guilds.been on both courses

Exemption on drivers hours for gritting lorry drivers.

I gess its kinda like can’t get the job without the training but can’t get the training without he job.

we went for years without it ,then we suddenly needed it :unamused:

I got offered it a few years ago, liked the idea of a 6x6 truck

Anyway, the day before it started it was quietly cancelled. Apparently the council union had kicked up a fuss about bin drivers and overtime.

Oh well…
