winds on M62

looks like the wind is causing carnage on the roads in yorkshire, i was heading east on the M62 in slow traffic, came across a artic on its side on the westbound side just past junc 31, front of the cab didnt look that damaged, hope the driver got out ok, trailer and unit were not liveried up so dont know what company it was, unit was a iveco stralis and trailer was white with blue curtains.

also just a few miles down the road from the above incident was an overturned artic on the A1M, i only heard this on the radio so no info

all the best to both drivers

It’s pretty wild here in Leeds atm.

Its blowing hard out there, im glad im not going down the A1 until sunday night

Hope they were alright, I had a nasty moment on the M40 today aswell, thought I was going over :open_mouth: couldn’t pull the curtains back either as I had two poxy pallets on the headboard and couldnt get them wet

Hope all of the unfortunate drivers are ok. I had a chuckle ( at some1 elses expense…) and I know i should not have done so, but saw an Iveco Daily with a Curtainside body not only on its side but in a field. There was a young lad with the police. He seemed ok, but you have to ask - where is the logic in assembling such combinations?

No logic at all.

Cork airport is grounded at the moment due too high winds should have flown a 1935 ggggggggrrrrrrr

No HGV’s allowed over Ouse Bridge or the A66. A64 and A171 blocked out of Scarborough.

I’ve been fully loaded for the best part of the day and it’s been . . . erm . . . interesting!

Stan

a64 is clear, was clear when i went past at half6, but was people on scene they was loads a marks over the road, looks like it went over, then slid down the road :open_mouth: the roads to whitby are closed to high siders, and its still giving it a good lashing round boro now i heard it was blowing vans over on the a66 lastnite and this morning

well i went upto leeds last night and it was one of the scariest drives i ve had in a long time.m1 and m62 were scary

Here you go lads (and ladies) . . . taken on A1 & M62 yesterday :open_mouth:

Hope all involved are okay!

the way i see the wind situation is this.

if you think it’s too bloody windy and dangerous i pull up and park up.
ok the load gets delivered late. but no one gets killed or injured and {fb} the boss.

and why do empty curtainsiders keep their curtains closed.

They might not be empty. We carry lots of loads that only weigh in at a few tonne.

the a64 was closed between the shell roundabout at staxton and morrisons just outside scarborough, it was 1 of our trucks that went over, and hit a car in the process, the driver was pulled out ok, but damaged his shoulder, and the driver of the car was taken to hospital, it happened about 1600 last night
