Wincanton transport+ milk tankers

don’t suppose u can use this curtainsider chriserf as far as the eye can see that’s what I like

Unless that curtainsider has a fridge on front drop it on Woodhead somewhere and come back solo,no good to me pal.
What’s that “NET” Logistics about and whose is the mucky yellow Scania with that herd of ERFs?

dunno who the scania belonged to,but I used a net logistics tractor one Christmas when they required extra units.set me thinking of the different wincanton jobs I have done–maltby malton bacon, then sainsburys, alba cortonwood, unlever Doncaster, flymo Doncaster, asda redhouse, birch packaging, but this was my favorite carlsberg tetley leeds.

A few old motors that were driven by Dave Wenlock who worked out of Darlestone doing some ADR work to Europe.

revman, carlsberg sounds a good number. . did you carry a bucket to catch the drips?

I once saw a mate of mine take a plastic bucket in his cab, next time I looked it was full of foaming ale, waiting for a trailer to load as it vented it poured down the from the top all over the floor, when I said I would not touch it because of road grime on the tr,he replied I always wait till its washed over then collect some in the bucket,we did either three loads to burton,or two to the Guinness plant near runcorn on the M56 or wrexham to tip & have the tank cleaned.many times got to Burton & if it failed the specific gravity test they opened the valves & the went down the drain :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

haha . could make a grown man cry.

this is the net logistics unit I had out of maltby one christmas

I don’t remember NET Logistics ERFs out of Maltby Alan, but there again I were only interested in trailers being a loyal and hard working shunter.
That trailer on the back of the NET ERF is STD40459C which was a St Ivel shed with walking beams that was used out of Brockworth.I never saw those beams in action,I think the trailer had a locking pin to hold it onto the bay or summat,we just used a button for a brake at old fashioned Maltby and a green and red light. The trailer would be written with “Utterly Butterly” or summat and I always got rid of the bloody things back down South-West.I think the “C” after the fleet number was Chippenham but in spite of enquiries never found out what STD meant, unless it was Subscriber Trunk Dialling for yer telephone.
We did have trailer at Maltby DTL 203 or summat, the TL stood for tail lift, but it got ripped off.The D stood for Distribution.
I’m off to bed…

Ye I once watched one being loaded at brockworth chris took-about 15 mins to load 26 pallets,&i think the daf that stanfield posted,I brought back from brockworth.went down shotgun with trev done to Safeway Bristol then pick unit& tr up for maltby

Just going out the Milton Keynes depot 1991

A clipping from Commercial Motor, 1962 I think

:sunglasses:
Nice photos Trev. The Scania was at Maltby at one time,I remember it because it was the only one with a “JL” Lincolnshire reg…

And another one of V696 with 40173 - I think you sent me this?

Yes, I think I did send you that one Chris, I’ve just been googling it and it was’nt West Brom as I thought, but was Bromford Lane, Ward End, and the place is now reduced to a pile of rubble :unamused:

Trev.

This was a Wincanton EC12 on the Sun Valley contract Hereford. They called in Maltby for fuel and odd times backloaded Droitwich or Bristol. The underslung fridges were a pain if you didn’t know how to operate them, many a time a driver would complain of the fridge not chilling only to discover that although the engine was running the compressor button hadn’t been activated.

anybody got a bucket

unloading at Washington out of flymo donny
