Hi all used to run out of the midlands mainly on the continent with Arther Williams, Ron Smith, Miky Priduex and a host of others from Preston, Barry, and Ipswich, started in the 70s at Wolverhampton then moved to Darlaston.I remember when I started on spot hire there was a regular 30+ drivers per week crossing over to the continent then the eighties came an ruined it all
Forgot to mention, Muarice Abberley,Albert Hickman, Derek Hinsley to name but a few.
Cant remember the fleet name but it was the spare vehicle to cover both Napier Brown and the Tate and Lyle contracts

Hi Jimcab if you have a look in the gallery you will see a picture of Calypso, the trailer was way to heavy and was used mainly for storage.
My first Factory fitted sleeper back in 1978 was Cathay (YYC 607S) after that came Consul (NYB 67V) I then finished up in 1987 with Revenge (E365 TYB) before leaving Wincanton in January 1990
I have seen in one of the photos a picture of a Volvo twin steer which was one of 4 volvos introduced in the fleet at Southampton and was driven by one of the Wilson Brothers on contract out of Hythe Chemicals, the tank behind it TC 435 was one of a batch brought into service around 1979.
nice bit of info thanks adr. . . im sure ive seen a photo of 67V. all our units at the dairy had fleer names but we all went by numbers, on the milk they had names of rivers
What an appalling copy of NYC 772 - who sold you that copy Jimcab? Here is a worthy picture taken from the negative in our files. It was taken by the late Roger Kenney when he photographed this and a number of other tankers, collection and works vehicles in the 1960s when he visited Somerset.
