Does anyone work for wincanton on the readymix side? They are after drivers in Middlesbrough and I’ve never done concrete before just wondered what they are like? I think it’s £11ph guaranteed 40hours don’t know anything else. Thanks

I’ve heard they’re a good firm to work for if that helps.

Yeah they seem okay mate , never worked for them before but some of the sites I’ve been to that they run it all seems okay, a bit H&S mad at some but that’s the way of the world nowadays lol
As stated elsewhere wincanton have been recruiting across the country for this contract. I might apply myself as I found some brand new wincanton T shirts in the back of the wardrobe that I was given when I worked on the bacon contract over a decade ago, they’ve even got my name embroiled on them.
I take it you have not had a good experience with them lol. I don’t know anything about them (working for them) that’s why I’ve made the topic , all feedback is welcome thanks

I know that some companies pay slaves wages, but that takes the biscuit. .
Thread Bump…
Anyone know about the “relief driver” roles on the wincanton readymix contract ■■
I’ve recently seen vacancies for relief drivers doing a mix of C & C+E driving covering holiday and sickness cover within a geographical region. It seems it’s a mix of trunking C+E cement tankers (trunking and backhaul) and class 2 cement mixer roles, Monday to Friday with up to 4 nights out.
I don’t work for them but used to chat to some of the drivers when I was working out of a Hanson site in portslade and they seem to enjoy it, they had the low level Volvo sleeper cabs and done a few nights out.
Having worked for Wincanton years ago I’m aware of the big company mentality, however before I posted the enquiry I’d applied online yesterday and today I received a call and spoken to someone about it, and they outlined the basics with a view to arranging a telephone interview next week, which is why I’d like to know a little more about this
