Been contacted by a recruiter for Wincanton offering me an interview for a Class 1 job out of Aldridge on their “construction materials” contract…HIAB or moffat by the looks of it.
Anyone have any experience of that job? What sort of spec do Wincanton get their trucks to? They are advertising £35k plus expenses…is this realistic?
Hi.yes that’s about right with bonus and nights out.cabs have Microwave and fridge in.around 50 hours a week.no daft start times which is great!
Yes that’s about the going rate. Night out payment on top of that. All parking, tolls etc paid. Driver CPC paid for and done during normal working hours. Trucks are not top of the range, but are better than a lot of others. All have fridge and microwave. Keen on keeping to 48hr week average. H&S can be a bit OTT, but never asked to do anything not 100% legal and safe. Planners may have a whinge if you don’t manage to get tipped when expected, but if you try your best, no-one takes it any further. Mostly W&D. Bricks tend to be one drop, if you back load roof tiles it can be 2 or 3, but they tend to put the awkward, multi drop ones on the dedicated roof tile vehicles. Probably better jobs around, but there’s also a lot worse.
