Will this apply to MSAs and truckstops

On news this morning
Private parking fines to be capped at £50 bbc.co.uk/news/business-60282554

Looks interesting.
Looks good.

If it’s true it’ll be cheaper to take a fine and pay it in 14 days rather than pay for overnight parking

50 quid is cheaper than where you overnight park? :open_mouth:
Where tf do you park exactly?

They will be after the fine on top of the unpaid parking charge, won`t they?
But I reckon a few will take a punt on paying neither.

The second word in the article is a bit of a give away…

Well, I`d put the hitch further down in the piece:
"Minister for Levelling Up Neil O’Brien said: "Private firms issue roughly 22,000 parking tickets every day, often adopting a system of misleading and confusing signage, aggressive debt collection and unreasonable fees designed to extort money from motorists.

“[Our] new Code Of Practice will set out a clear vision with the interests of safe motorists at its heart, while cracking down on the worst offenders.”

Under the proposals, the cap on parking fines in private car parks will fall by 50% in most cases, benefiting millions, the government says."

A Government Minister, talking about proposed changes, to a code of practise…
But it does sound nice!

Private car parks vs commercial truck parking; don’t see much of a connection here?

Someone posted in here the other week of one truckstop on the M25 now charging £50 a night. Many MSAs in the South East are heading towards £40.

There is no fine in private parking spots, they don’t have the legal authority to issue a fine or FPN. The only people who do are the council in council provided parking.

True. Sloppy language from me.
They are not Fines, nor are they Fixed Penalty Notices.

They are invoices for parking on private land.
It`ll be the original charge plus an admin fee for putting the ticket on the vehicle, and chasing you, rather than you paying up front.

Don’t say that . They will all want proper jobs with good roads, restaurants, free parking, respect, pay and expenses next.
