Basically, you need a clear run there and back to do it legally, and a quick turnaround too. It is just off the motorway, so that is helpful. The earlier you set off back, the better. Good luck.

Avoid the M6 on the way back. It’ll be a car park from J18 downwards. A50 and M1 might be faster with the exception of the M1 junction queues.

Not a chance. What you gain from missing the traffic leaving early your soon loose as m6 has overnight closures on various dates usually until 6 am . So might get diverted off.
