bad car driving in my humble opinion
funny how the truck stays in the one lane and the car driver changes lanes and has arrows painted on the road warning GET LEFT… I agree with the story write up …bad planning …
I live in Wellingborough and use this roundabout every day, I have seen this near collision happen nearly every day, driving into Wellingborough towards park farm from Northampton is just as bad, just for the sake of a bit more tarmac,
Surely he could see the lane ending.,driving without due care and attention. The lane didnt just end there were merging arrows.Car drivers fault
I had the exact same thing this morning, coming from Wellingborough and heading back towards Kettering. However this time the driver just went for it and crossed the 2 solid white lines into the opposite carriageway and oncoming traffic.
It must have been an important meeting he was rushing for
All on our truck dashcam, but we are not allowed to download them ourselves
It’s an everyday occurrence, but the very short outer lane doesn’t help to be honest, not sure what they were trying to achieve with the 30 odd ft or lane that merges into the inside lane?
Yeah i agree and am i not right in saying that shortley after it opens up into a dual anyway!?

It does indeed, down to another roundabout about 500m away.
Makes no sense at all.

I thought this was coming from the Park Farm area and towards Northampton,if that’s the case the left lane of the dual is for traffic coming from Wellingborough A45 on a slip.
Living local and experiencing the hell that was the old roundabout at rush, this new roundabout is a god send.
As soon as these fools learn to read the signs and road markings it’ll all be hunky Dorey.
Wow
Talk about poor road planning, my boy could have done a better job than that…lol
I’m fortunate that the driver of the HGV was observant enough to take action too and was able to pull across the carriageway to provide us both room.
Glad to see the press didn’t slate the trucker off…
nowhere for the truck to go
car obviously not knowing road layout
I have to agree with the car driver, that is bad road planning. I hate roads like that as it invites racing and cutting someone up is the only way out of it. There are several sections of road like this on the Tyburn road in Birmingham where it goes from 2 lanes to 3 then back to 2 in a very short space, about 100 yards and every time I go down it I see the same. It does nothing for the flow of traffic so don’t see the point.
That car driver obviously wasn’t looking at the road markings though and his lane discipline round the island was poor.
