Wide singles on steering axle

I have these on the steering axle. 8 ton front axle…

Low ride height suspension as well?

Im sure someone who knows better will correct me but, if uprating axles the brake balance will need altering too? Anyway, on previous 4x2s with a different company we had trouble with the outside edges of the front tyres "feathering" off. 95% of the tyre would be fine but the tyre would be written off due to excess wear on the extreme edge. Fitting super singles cured this. I seem to remember being told its to do with the centre line of the tyre/wheel being moved out a little? 4x2 units are still the nor in most of Europe and most run super singles on the front. They usually are designed for front axle use and not trailer tyres used on the front. Some designs have a thin rubber “wing” meant to decrease water being thrown up onto mirrors.
