Ok one for the tacho / driving hours experts
Take one wide load 4m ish on low loader with one driver only and one ■■■■■■ vehicle .
If the ■■■■■■ driver put his tacho card into the low loader as in double manning in slot 2 and mode was set to other work can he drive ■■■■■■ and later on when load is delivered and ■■■■■■ vehicle on low loader for return journey . Can he then drive the unit ? Legally I mean
Cheers mike
No. This would be other work. And very soon the escorter will need to be qualified so not just any old driver can do it.
No too what ? Can you elaborate please ?

Firstly slot 2 will automatically change to POA when the vehicle starts moving so legally the ■■■■■■ driver would need to write a manual entry on a printout to say he was doing other work.
As far as driving the vehicle back is concerned, yes he could drive the vehicle back but legally neither driver could take advantage of the daily rest concession for multi-manning because they would not have been multi-manning, so they would be restricted to the single manned journey regulations ie a 13/15 hour spread-over.
To be multi-manning both drivers must be in the same vehicle while the vehicle is moving.
Thanks tachograph , that’s the answer I was looking for
Stagedriver any info on this qualification for ■■■■■■ drivers ?

You’re welcome, if you want confirmation try Page 21 - Rules on Drivers Hours and Tachographs.
By the way, as the ■■■■■■ driver wouldn’t be in the vehicle but would be driving another vehicle it would probably be illegal for him to have his card in slot 2 on POA, even with a written manual entry it’s going to look very dodgy and possibly still illegal.

Quite out of date but not on my laptop so don’t have the full info. But have a look here http://www.hta.uk.net/Portals/1/HTA%20Docs/Newsletter/Issue%2029%20HTA%20HeavyTalk%20Newsletter%20Mar%202013.pdf
