Hi, I’m looking for some advice regarding wide load equipment for our lorry and hoping that someone on here has some experiance that could help us out! My problem is that we are moving loads up to 3.3m wide on a lorry and drag and can’t see much in our wingmirrors down the side of the lorry which becomes mostly a problem when on motorways as can’t see any traffic in the lane 2 until it is just about alongside us. Do you know of any suppliers of mirror extensions or something similar for lgv’s as would like to get something sorted asap.

I’m an escorter so I’ll do my best to help.
You need an extra set of mirrors on the cab, but you’ll also need overhanging markers and beacons on the end of the load.
Have you considered using an ■■■■■■ which relieves your driver of a lot of responsibility and stress?
As an ■■■■■■ vehicle all your there for is to Warn others of the vehicle you are escortng and there your responsibiitys end it dont relieve the driver of any resposibility of any kind
I don’t think advice off here will be enough, what you are transporting is specialist and requires the rite know how, equipment and expertise.
If you ain’t got that…well mate you really shouldn’t be taking this type of work on.

Not quite. There is a lot more to it than you think.
Sure some escorters, sorry van drivers do the ‘sit at the back and follow’ thing but there are those out there who do it properly.
But that’s a completely different matter I’d rather not go into right now!
While a decent ■■■■■■ can make it easier, it in no way takes any responsibility for incident away from the driver. There’s also the matter of cost.
Most mirror extensions I’ve used or come across have been home made. It doesn’t take much imagination to rig something up This day and age though you may even consider some sort of camera set up. Not sure of the legality etc TBH but it would seem like a better bet to me
I personally dont use them as my loads aren’t the same width top to bottom, or close to the cab, so can usually see enough past them.
