Possibility of interview for job on class 1 for Wickes out of their distribution centre.
Anybody got and info/experience of job?

Seriously H&S mad, not just hi-viz and boots, but hard hat, glasses, netting, cord, seal numbers, sign here, sign there. I haven’t done it for a couple of years but it hasn’t improved. Salaried position working to a rota. Usually two store deliveries and a collection but there are some three store deliveries and no collection, but you always collect the crap from stores. Equipment top notch, paperwork takes some getting used to, but decent job when all considered.

How long were shifts generally when you were there? Take it with being on rota a mixture of start times?
Shifts start from 0405 - must keep within the rules & regs for night workers 
- up to 0700. Earlier the start the longer the shift. General length is from 10 - 12 hrs.
Never take the loading as a given. Just because you’ve got a delivery schedule doesn’t mean to say it’s been loaded with all the stores pallets together. As far as the loaders are concerned the important bit is to get it all on, so open the curtains all the way back in the morning to check where every pallet is. Then count them off when you deliver.

Phoned earlier and had a chat. Pretty much told me over phone what you stated above. Asked me down for an assessment next Saturday so going to go down and have a look.
