WHY?

As stated earlier…I’m currently temping at DPD doing multidrops. We use a scanning system that ■■■■■■■■ you for going too fast for the time slots. I spent 18 minutes waiting outside some house today, because the system doesn’t let you deliver early. I overrode it once, and promptly got a phone call from the office to say…NO!

The annoying thing is…Later in the day, you get told to hurry up for collections that need doing before closing time! Why make you wait?

If its not delivered within the arranged time slot then it will be classed as a failed delivery probably meaning a financial penalty of some sort for DPD. But as you say, its no good hanging around waiting to deliver goods if its going to make your pick ups suffer later in the day.

That’s the only bad side of it. I mean, some of my drops were less than a mile apart today. The allocated travel slot was sometimes 13-15 mins. I could have done 10 in the time it took to do 1!
It’s all in the sticks so traffic is non-existant.

Because its someones job to think up these schemes and they dont operate on the ground!! eventually after raising its head enough times the issue will get resolved, some system but thats the only consolation I can offer

saved me typing that

Maybe because DPD offer a time slot delivery service, and some people being quite literally minded and expecting a parcel between 10-1030 might bugger off out and arrive back at 0955, then be annoyed that you had stuck a card through the door at 0935?

Or maybe they like to be awkward.

I buy loads of stuff from Amazon, I get a delivery nearly every week, and it nearly all comes by DPD. On the delivery day I will get an email from them telling me the earliest and latest it will be delivered by and if you aren’t going to be in between those times to let them know. Last one on Saturday before last told me it would arrive between 07:34 and 08:34, it came at 07:47, so I guess if all customers are getting that they don’t want you arriving before the earliest time in the email. They have never delivered outside of the slot they told me and it has always been in the first half of it. I would have no problem going out and making sure I was back home by the earliest time in the email but if the DPD guy tries to deliver early and I am not in it might be returned and then I won’t be happy, especially as I usually pay for next day delivery if it’s a more expensive item or I just can’t wait.

I said the system doesn’t let you deliver early. Sometimes you can’t get the label off! I have done it a few times.

Is Fat Kev still the supervisor out there?

If there’s a way round it, he’ll have figured it out!

Bald, specky Kev? Yeah if that’s him!

Next time you see him tell him some bloke told you to wave your hand and go “eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”

You should get a permanent job for doing that!
