Why would you be a shunter/moneys pants

I was shunting on the Habitat contract in the early 90s , I slept more hours than i drove , I even got fed up of washing the leyland roadrain I drove , I even use to volunter to take a load with it to Oxford just to get out of the way .Lucky for me it was still road legal . :open_mouth:

thats the type off job i need after 30 yrs on class one the hunt is on

ady1:
why work for Stobarts? Money is pants

Fixed that for you

stands well back and awaits fireworks

The job would be easy enough, it would be getting the attitude of"■■■■ the lot of you you’re just drivers, I run this place", that would give me problems. :sunglasses:

Up and down the yard, and I mean, again, and again, and again, and again, doing shunting, I hate it to be honest, but it pays the mortgage,…always on the lookout for workers on their mobys, who just walk into the road in front of you !

its like any other job in this industry, it suits some, it wouldnt suit others. its all about personal preferences

is there any shunting jobs at stobarts northwestarea as im looking at doing something less stressfull after 30 yrs on the road

after 34yrs driving, mostly tramping, wife`s father died, so did a bit of Mafi shunting, for a firm we did work for till she got over it. After a couple of months I realized I was enjoying not thrashing about on the road, no jams, trying to find parking for the night and idiot drivers. I was taking home about ÂŁ100 less per month but only at work for 40 hrs instead of 60-70 and only 15 mins to get to and from work. Sitting about most of the time but plenty of cups of tea and good crack with the loaders. Would I go back on the road ,NO WAY, just have to look out on the road at the traffic jams, or listen to drivers tales of woe when they finally turn up.

What Shunters really wanted to be in life is traffic cops they also get to drive incredibly fast motors and their word is law!

Speaking as a part time shunter…I think you’re right. I kind of got the job by accident, but by God it’s MY yard and you will comply or get shot!!! :stuck_out_tongue:
