Why work for UK haulier instead of EU haulier?

Disregarding Brexit situation, Immigrant labor market and other circumstances I started to think - why would you work for UK haulier… if you have option to work for EU haulier…

So lets compare…
UK hauliers - logistic companies either they are Stobarts, Turners or watewa mainstream “bigboys” will pay anything between 8ph to 11ph to their drivers + nights out… new starters will work for lowest wage for their first 2 years and by the looks of salary polls around this forum etc general conclusion is that Class 1 Tramper will earn around 400 - 500gbp per week + night out money for close to max hours so lets take average 500gbp week take home for Class 1 tramping… max hours at least 1 or maybe 2 locations a day - drop/loading etc driving in UK bad services expensive cafes low spec cabs in some cases even without fridges and sleeping in laybys…
Some of this on taxavoidance SE schemes and rubish PAYE terms… working every other saturday if not by free will then by mismanagement - stuck left out there etc…

EU hauliers - logistics companies either H Essers, Kreiss etc not lowest spectrum of the barel… not Romanians and very unlikely Polish…
German, Dutch hauliers will pay 2300 - 3000 Eur take home with full holiday package
Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian - the upper class of Eastern Europeans will pay 1600 - 2500 Eur take home with full holiday package and 6 weeks away 3 weeks home or 4/2 or similar deals…
Both of these catogories will give long haul runs with probably one location - loading, unloading per 3 days or even more days and shorter days due to straight plowing across countryside roads so you reach your driving time limit closer to 9h realtime instead of UK multi location loading waiting maxing out hours etc stuff… better services some scenic Scandinavian work for some companies or very exciting Russia work…etc…
These companies and hauliers also usually run much better spec trucks than for example the same new Stobart spec, all max space cabs, toplines, highroofs, fridges etc…

SO basically difference is in range of 500 - 700 gbp per month range…
But difference in work life quality is pretty big… maybe ?

Also on the other side of life - not work but life as itself… for example if young English guy is renting flat or house for 600-800per month and cant afford to buy house in this rent till die Britain but over there he can buy proper house and decent car for example Jeep Cherokee size car  and he dont need to worry about massive insurance costs or council taxes leave his wife at that house and wonder around scandinavia for 6 weeks and then do 3 weeks of sleeping at his own owned paid off house etc…

well… just thinking and comparing…

Any thoughts from the sensible minority of this forum on this subject?

This is not about dirt cheap Romanian Bulgarian Polish side of the trucking industry over there but about the more or less developed one German Dutch and NorthEast Europe…

trucknet member milodon might be very interesting example with his numbers to comment on this…?

Do you have anymore good jokes to spin…But and but if what you say is true… tomorrow thier will be no EU moters parked up in our laybays dropping their crap out of the window, with no regards to the ratepayer or the environment… because they will go to the better money…then I wish them luck…as for you…ain’t we had enough lies in this referendum

Do I look like Boris of Nigel ?

Give me the phone no of an international company taking on English Drivers…There ain’t one that pays the money your on about…not even for Bulgarians…Your about to embarrass yourself

In my post there is section in BOLD that highlights that Romanian and Bulgarian companies are excluded from these calculations…

No wonder you feel fooled by referendum if you cant even read…

Forget the bolloxxxx phone no…Dun Sweden,Upsalla…then Munich…rtn Southern France you can’t monkey me…saw my own eyes the state of the road Transport in Europe…and they are ex commie block drivers working for peanuts…I saw and spoke to them…an two Spanish Drivers who were ■■■■■■ of with the EU

no wonder you’re stobby veteran…

Probably because it would mean taking naivety to the extreme to think that there’s more chance of a German firm employing a foreign driver in a well paid demount drawbar trunking job.Than a Brit operator employing an immigrant East Euro for the zb distribution sector job.

Does this thread come with subtitles ?

Mr Kyjak…Put the money where your mouth is…Phone No of An EU Company that’s taking on English Drivers…Dun Two nights…over Two weeks on Stobbies. Rather play banjo in Gray’s town centre than turn out for them…All and I mean all that were there through agency were our welcome commie block cousins…what’s your pedigree.5 years in England

You see Mr Kyjak… English Drivers have a certain way of talking…for sure it’s an insult to say I worked for Stobarts…But in all my posts you can see it’s never happened…nor will…in the good old days you knew a Lorry driver by his right arm…( no air con ) also by his attitude, got used to dealing with all people at all levels in a calm but assertive manner…that’s how I know through the language and manner the man explains himself shows his experience… sometimes an office Waller throws me …but not for long

The reason UK wages are low is because eastern European cheap labour pushing wages down working for peanuts. Hopefully brexit can put a stop to this so English drivers in non specialized driving rolls can get a fair wage, and money grabbing bosses take a pay cut.

Which would explain some of the economic and political zb storm which took place on the morning of the 24th June directed by the business community.

While unfortunately the hijacking of the Brexit agenda by a remain MP like Tharesa May and Cameron holding onto article 50 and the calming of the banker classes since and the CBI obviously wanting a large part of the input into what happens next, says it all in that regard.Brexit in this case at best probably meaning out of the EU into the EEA. :bulb: :frowning:

I work for UK companies because I like to be home in my own bed every night. Spending all week out in a truck is not for me so unless you can find a way for me to work for one of these Dutch or German companies and be in my own bed every night then I’m not interested.

I live in France and work for a French company, my pay and conditions are considered good and well protected (why they strike so much). I only work within France and my take home pay is €2000 a month, but that includes health insurance paid for by the company. I’m afraid the salaries the OP quoted are fantasy wages and in all honesty if they were paying that I would quit my job and go work for them! But that’s not happening anytime soon. And no I don’t work for Nobrot or Xpo as it is called, I work for the second largest fridge transport company in France after STEF and am the only English employee.

You do France work and get health insurance and probably every weekend home if not every night so take health insurance off and put full on tramping in and you will get my number in Dutch or German land… if you’ll read carefully you’ll see that I mentioned 2 different pay levels the second one the one that doesnt say dutch or german is lower number so also not made up

my numbers are for full on tramping accross europe with mentioned shift patters - read all post…
2 levels 2nd one is lower and for highest paying of EE not the lowest of the lowest… there are multiple members in this forum that can back that up - will they come out its up to them you can find their opinion and info on Euro forum if they dont want to come in this post let it be so…

Is there generally a language barrier to working for Euros firms? Can an English only speaker get work in Dutch German Spanish etc.
I know a little German from my school days but far from fluent
