why why why

Going up & down the M1 through the roadworks between 25 & 28 3-4 times a week at night I invariably come up behind a car doing 45mph in the middle lane and refusing to move over even though there’s absolutely no traffic visible in front. The only way past is to undertake and I’ve now given up even attempting to get them to move over by, essentially, tailgating them.

One of my pets hates too, just wish i had a boost button or something to out drag em, see how they like it. Sometimes some accidental swaying towards them changes their mind

Was going to down portsmouth on the A3 the other week, think it was the junction for Petersfield where i saw this woman in a green nissan micra stopped on the slip road waiting to get on :unamused:

Anyway i pull out to let her on and what does she do? speed up til shes running along side me!!!, mustve stayed there for a couple of miles, cars backing up behind me (odd one dipping into the n/s lane to undertake :unamused: only to find this dippy woman in the way :smiling_imp:)

Then we start coming up to a slower lorry and she decides to floor it to try and get in front of me and pass the slower lorry, at which point i accidently sway over into her lane and she decides its safer for her to drop back, let me pass the lorry and pull in

After this she passes me and i think thats the last i see of her, then a few miles down the road i see her again, stopped at the exit of another slip road waiting to get on■■? I decided not to let her out this time…

I would never let a woman treat me like that

Worst i had was on the A9 heading south just after Perth about 6am, came across a Nissan Micra doing about 45mph, came up on it fast went to overtake it as soon as i was passing it, it took off leaving me in lane 2.

Thought no probs he is out the way, so back into lane 1, then come but up upon the micra doing about 45mph, go to overtake same thing, he starts moving as soon as i am overtaking him, off he goes.

Again come up on the Micra this time at the big hill on the A9, think ok this time i’m getting past, drop the clutch truck takes off down the hill go flying past the Micra, keep going flying along way above the speed limit, micra is a dot in the distance now.

About 5mins later guess who comes flying past me mr micra, overtakes me then slows down again to under 50mph, again i go to overtake again he floors it away from me.

Catch up yet again, same thing this time, use the horn and lights to make him aware of my presence, doesent faze micra man at all, so go for yet another overtake same thing.

So stuck behind micra man doing 45mph on the A9 not happy.

Then get to the petrol station just before Dunblane and micra man pulls into the petrol station, so angry decide to follow him in and see what he is playing at.

Jump out the truck run over to him, asking him what the F he is playing at, guy is totally bewildered not got a clue. I asked him why he keeps on overtaking me and slowing down, he says what truck. In the end i give up people are looking at me and i,m on camera right in this guys face not a good thing so leave the petrol station. Got back to Glasgow without him overtaking me again, i had visons of him appearing on the m80 again but he never.

Sounds a bit like the film “Duel”!

you arent breaking the law by doing that any more than you would be when you pass a gritter who needs to be in the middle lane. it is only undertaking if you move into the left, pass them and then move back out again. there is no law against passing them on the inside although THEY are breaking the law by causing an obstruction

i have always thought that, that if you come across someone in the middle lane and your in your truck, and use the slow lane    to undertake but once past them dont pull out your not technically undetaking them - but i have not dare test that theory.

So if a traffic cop was behind you and you did this manouver - who would they pull over and what would be the fine/punishment

Is shrek a TC

Undertaking or passing on the nearside

Each situation would be judged on it’s own merits and would probably be defined as to whether it was done to gain an advantage or not.

A truck in lane 1 at 50+ passing a middle lane hogger at 50, would not, IMO, be doing it to gain an advantage over the hogger as it could be deemed that the hogger was impeding the normal traffic flow.
