You work harder on a rigid usually! Remember! A lot have gone straight to Class 1 and only drove a rigid for tests, training on the way there! I reckon this is the reason there are so many numbties driving Class 1 as well as the easterners of course!
IMO the rigid is where you really learn to be a pro driver!
Tell u what mate last year i did 6 wks or so class2 multi drop and it was some of the hardest work ive ever dun,i knew id dun a days work doing that tell ya,was glad to get bck on artics to take it easier haha And the work was for a relation he said he was goin easy on me…

All handball or if you were really lucky a pump truck and a tail-lift!
You also tend to be less of a Lard-■■■ on Rigids for this reason.
Pallet drops can be over a ton,it is what the client has ordered on the internet, the client will not advise when booking that the driver may have to pump truck 5 0r 6 pallets of horse food, wood chippings or compost over cobbled stones and have the client say all the other delivery drivers do this for them.
I had one rich couple, they had a cosy cottage in a sleepy village, and insisted that i break down their pallets of compost and carry it down a track and over a wall, and went berserk when i said no,we only drop the pallet.
I was told to get there by 3 pm,as her gardener lived 3 hours away, and i would have no help if arrived late.

any muppet can drive a truck with enough practice
.
Nah, Kermit would never see over the steering wheel to see where he was going but Fozzy Bear probably could
I can see over the steering wheel just
or have it positioned so I can look between that & the dash
should have seen that one coming
Oh NTSA.
I couldn’t two ■■■■ s if i get flashed in or not, lifes to short to worry about such meager BS.
Ive had class 1 or C+E whatever you wana call it for 22 years but drive a rigid nowadays, as long as the moneys in the bank every month and the wheels go round, I dont care if bends in the middle or not!.
I treat everyone equally, I never flash in anyone
God gave you mirrors for a reason

muppets can drive. i can class 1 not class 2
I noticed this the day!!!
An artic and me were overtaking another artic, the one in front of me got flashed in but I didnt, did it bother? Not in the slightest, one of those things!!!
Same with coaches, rarely got flashed in with those…
What did surprise me on Friday was getting flashed out by a car BEFORE I put the indicator on
it must be very embarrassing for the newbies nowadays having to go for a girls licence first , ohhh the shame of it …

Another thing, right … I overtake a class 1 on a level motorway and pull in, then a mile later we hit a downhill. The class 1 uses the downhill to overspeed and get half way past me, then the hill levels out to a straight and he cant get past, yet he expects me to slow down and let him in so i have to overtake him again. If I don’t slow down I get all sorts of agro as if it’s my fault he broke the speed limit and then couldnt complete the overtake. If I’m getting genuinely overtaken on a level then I even slow up to let them past, but using the extra weight to get half way past me then getting mad cos they cant get all the way past me just seems like arrogance.
happens to us all even class 1 being past by heavier truck class 1 on down hill, boils my ■■■■ even when iv just over taking him on straight with ease
I just don’t understand this mentality and I’m sure some knock it into neutral as well to achieve this as well after they’ve just been passed. Usual half-closed curtains blinged up suspects, I find when I look across. My view is if someone else has got the edge on speed on the flat let them crack on and get in front of you.
They flash in the artic that overtakes them, but won’t flash in a rigid.
I find that when i drive a rigid, because of its shorter length, i dont really need to be told when im clear of the artic. i expect this is why you dont get as many flashes as you would like.
i dont even flash artics or coaches that have passed me at a comfortable speed. and im sure they dont expect or need it.
in my opinion, there should be less of it, all you see at night, is wagons in both directions flashing everything that overtakes someone, and this often blinds you. some drivers leave there high beam on for ages!
it always amuses me when i see wagons flashing in vans and small cars vans that have overtaken them, some can be traveling at almost twice their speed, and they still flash them in. why?
do you need to be flashed when your driving your car home, where will it all end?
just incase any of the class 2 folk need to talk , its nothing to be ashamed of honest its not you aint the only one with a class 2 … HTH
Never experienced an attitude as such, but some drivers of show condition motors do look when I park alongside in my normally dirty wagon, and whilst they blow the dust out with an air-hose I’ve got my boots up on the dashboard.
To really surprise them, I get out and clean my lights and numberplates.
Seriously, I am very strict regarding cleaning these and hate to have a splash of dirt on them. I hate stoneguards over the rear lights as it makes cleaning nore awkward.
This is the only flashing im interested in
I get this when I drive our rigid’s!
Thing is I’m paid at class 1 rate whilst driving the rigid’s, which is probably a fair bit more than what Mr General Haulage is on driving class 1.
More fool them.
flashed out by a car BEFORE I put the indicator on
That’s because he was reading the road ahead

I usually end up doing that when ive pulled out to overtake a slower truck if he is gaining on another vehicle, I will back off so he can pass the slower vehicle first, in or on the truck, car or bike
i do think of myself as a very considirate driver, but if some one tries to take the ■■■■, I will block there progress.
I hate class 2 drivers, shouldn’t be aloud on the road til they can drive a proper truck.
