Totally agree with Juddian, different strokes and all that. If I was single with no ties then tramping round the UK/europe would definitely appeal, not for the money but more for the variety, but the way my life is I do trunking.
I put my son through his C2 last summer and he started through agency just before Christmas doing tyres in a 12t at one company, they’ve now moved him onto an 18t and a mix of tyres and pallets, he’s on a decent enough rate on days and actually enjoys doing tyres over pallets and prefers doing longer days, so far as long as he’s available he’s got work. His mate has just started at the same place and they share a car for the commute.
Benjie83, hang in there, there is work out there and decent firms out there that realise taking on newbie C2s and training them up is the best way to get decent drivers for the future. Don’t rule out agencies as a stop gap/way in but find a decent one, they do exist.

The thing that amuses me most is that he thinks anybody on here actually gives a ■■■■.
I personally have said to him in the past that if he has a good number, great, spot on, seriously!
Me personally I have never in real terms had any concern for what other people/drivers do, say or earn, I have never been genuinely envious or jealous, never looked down on people, and I have brought my 4 kids up to have the same values.
I have had good and bad periods in my life in this job, at the top and on my arse, the more bad the harder you get, and better character you develop.
It certainly has never made me so shallow to envy any drivers wages, the fact that our mate in whatever persona, feels the necessity to try and ram it down everybody’s neck at every opportunity, and nearly every post, just smacks of insecurity of some sort.
So imo let him carry on, most would agree his contempt towards his fellow drivers, not to mention his class, does not put him in a very good light, and is a good indication of his character.

Yet there are a few who seem to get far too serious! As regard’s tramping being the way forward, I personally don’t see why people get so bothered about tramper’s.
Some people save up hard earned cash to sleep out overnight on the floor in a [zb]ing piece of fabric ( think they call it a tent ), so what’s the problem with a windproof, waterproof, heater equipped comfy wagon, with a radio, kettle, microwave, etc,etc…!!
And all it takes to move it elsewhere is a key. Some folk don’t make sense to me.

As for tramping it would not suit everybody.
I got to fancy driving at 18 by going off with mates for the week that were trampers, got a bit of ‘education’ in dodgy bars pubs and clubs on nights out (when all drivers socialised together then) and thought ‘yeh, I quite fancy this’
Fair enough it has changed vastly since then, but I still meet up with a few old mates ‘down the road’ for a pint, I’ve never been one for ■■■■ lay bys, or just work/sleep approach, and would not last long in the job if I was. As I keep saying on here it’s a job not a ■■■■ endurance test, get some enjoyment from it. just got back to the cab now from the pub, another ■■■■■■ birthday on my own.
Never really seen myself as doing days or nights, I’ve dabbled in the past but always seen nights away as part of the job, and those that are daymen as just playing at it. ( no offence to daymen btw, it’s just as I’ve always seen it)
On the other hand I done my best to discourage my 2 lads about the job, they both came with me all over UK and Europe, and did fancy it, but they both have trades I’m glad to say.

As I’ve already said, no amount of information will be enough for some people and I am not prepared to start revealing names or locations so basically you either accept it or you don’t, either way I’m not really bothered. I just don’t like being called a liar and other things simply because people do not believe the earning potential that is available to drivers. I have every right to defend my position and I will do so. Funny how those calling the names have changes tack isn’t it and now they don’t care what I earn blah blah blah.
The fact that I dare to have the nerve to post the potential earnings on threads that are about that very subject and then receive such crap for doing so says it all. If you want to ask about earnings then don’t be surprised when someone comes along with a figure you do not believe.

I do like a bit of beaver as much as the next man , but the one we are on about on here is my Trucknet buddy (in a very butch way you understand btw!) where as E8b (my boy) understands that blood is thicker than water

just working on the 2s company 3 is a crowd and I know evil is probably out there teaching some coffin dodger how to reverse or sort his vehicle out so may too busy or broken hearted to respond.
I could post January but nobody would believe the payments so all I will offer is for anybody serious about proving me a liar can arrange a meet up whereby I will log in to my account in front of them and they can see for themselves.
Informing other drivers of potential earnings does not seem to give them the impetus to want to reach those levels themselves, all they do is start throwing abuse and saying that they are happy in their current job along with other lame excuses for not having the balls to get out there and make the job pay.
If you are one of the drivers who resorts to personal insults when someone reports to be making in excess of a grand a week then in future please keep your opinions to yourself as there is now enough evidence on these boards to prove otherwise. Just because you can’t do it does not mean it isn’t done.
