TRUCKING TURNER. Feel for you mate.
She’s still driving pal, just a different highway until you catch up.

I dont think they are!
I think it is a specific male skill to be able to pee up the wheel of a truck in a MSA, that women would struggle to emulate.
Mummy, why’s that woman got wet trousers?
Male? Female, it’s a co-worker…
Poor business planning, using an articulated lorry to carry one small box of pigeons or a single grandfather clock.
Not only bad planning, but where’s VOSA to pull her for the lack of strapping / roping & sheeting especially carrying what has to be the worlds biggest grandfather clock!
On the original topic, I’ve been asked by a few women recently if they could do this job and apart from having to change from office attire I can’t really see why not. If a 5’ 4" guy like me could do it, I’m sure anyone could! I do know one who’s current job is a “beautician” who wants to be a truck driver and I must admit I’m not too sure she’d be the most suitable especially with the false nails, but pretty sure most of the guys on here would be less than perfect as “nail technicians”.
I thought a few years ago there was a bit of a push by some companies to employ more woman drivers as they were safer, unless that was just a bit of PR and never really amounted to anything useful.

They have more brains than a man
I was going to say similar, along the lines of they are not stupid
the fact that " winnie the welder " is holding burning gear speaks volumes for me…and what can you say about the pic of 6 women holding onto a big hard spurting hose…
Think there are plenty of women lorry drivers on here that might disagree with some of you
I am a woman & some of you know not that tall but I find other ways round sometimes have asked for help ( but there was a problem one day with a 5th wheel pin even an experienced guy struggled with it had to get fitter to sort it )
I just get on & do the job ( when fit but the foot is getting better ) like most of us & no my dad was not a lorry driver all his life & this is not why I became a driver either

I seem to remember the last time the RHA FTA were twittering on about a driver shortage about 2004, they were trying to recruit women into the Industry, they were going on about flexible shifts meant the women could work the job round childcare and other ■■■■■■■■ which basically proved they hadn’t really got a clue what they were talking about.
Especially as they found out that there were many women with HGV licences that weren’t driving commercially, and couldn’t understand why? The basic answer is there are lot of women in who drive horse boxes and many had a C cat licence, knowing many women who keep horses, these aren’t the type of women who’d tolerate sitting in an RDC waiting room, generally being treated like a [ZB] by a rude ignorant, surly, semi evolved, illiterate goods in staff. Just imagine a cross between Princess Anne and Penelope Keith, they could destroy them quicker with one sarcastic remark than a room full of Male truck driver.
