Why does log-in terminate automatically?

Can anybody please tell me why log-in on this site appears to have some sort of automatic cut-off?

This afternoon, I’d read a post and wished to make a reply. I then composed my reply, admittedly it took a while due to answering a phone call; but when I tried to send my reply, I found that I’d apparently been logged out.

I then found that my message had disappeared :angry: :confused: :cry:

I’d like to know whether this is normal, or had I unwittingly done someting wrong? :blush:

If there is some sort of time limit to compose replies, what is it? Why is it necessary? What do you do when an answer needs some research?

No reason why you should know that not ticking that box would limit your time :wink:
