‘…there is an obsession about driving artics … I have been on Grab lorries for years and it is a very good paying job…’
If I knew of a job (over?) paying the same for PM work on rigids as doing silly hours on artic’s I’d consider it: However, but I don’t like doing earlies due to absolutely loathing all aspects to do with the bear-pit of morning roads. Hence I’m well happy on my (limited to artic?) PM’s and sleeping-off when the world is wrapped-up in its early-day bad manners, spoilt-kid school runs, make-up in the mirror & late-for-the-office types in the hours anything adjacent to the the Moyles-worship period.
Two considerations for the pro-rigid among us:
How many customers want owt ‘grabbing’, tipping, collecting, delivering, etc. from a rigid at dark o’clock or on a Sunday afternoon when I’m happiest to take out-of-hours jobs to troll the nation?
Maybe keep well quiet by not letting a (slow?) gaffer know when finding oneself well paid in a rubbish financial climate …though good on you for cracking it.

For the same reason that the local yobbo has a Rottweiller or Pitbull, it’s because we’re as hard as nails & hard men don’t drive silly little bonsai lorries
■■■■ right Mark…then of course there is the 18 metre “A” frame drawbar, a real “Mans Truck”!!!
The daddy of them all being those 25 metre draw bar jobs that the scandinavians drive!

i have to admit, i do admire the dragon drivers although it is admiration, not envy. i never accept those jobs whether drawbar or A frame. done both, im sticking to artics

expanding your options tbh, plus i prefer driving an artic to a rigid. i also prefer left hand drive to right hand drive.i really enjoy the artics and the trucks are usually better.
also doing long distance european tour work in a rigid is very rare. i also enjoy doing 5/600 miles a day
I could have been impressed by this post Gogzy, but for the fact that most of the members of this forum have done more miles in reverse than you’ve done forwards.
but i could probably drive better in reverse than alot of the drivers on this forum. ps please remember how young i am aswell. im only trying to get experience i dont need shot down by another driver because of my age…

the job is often easier as it often means going from loading dock to another loading dock
That’s what I call “boring”.
I do class 2 job, nationwide, doing city centres and small villages, places “unsuitable for HGVs” and all that stuff and I really enjoying that. I would never swap it for some motorway trunking, even if it will be C+E+E on the tip-top lorry… I also did outer Hebrides and Highlands, not many artics go to places I used to go.
Still yet, this job on the artics might be ever more fun. But in this narrow field, it’s more likely to catch a class two job.

Chin up mate won’t all be rainbows and lollypops, there is going to be the odd ■■■■■■■ one imagines. Just think better to have a ■■■■ trip touring europe than have a ■■■■ trip from some moody forkies and gatehouse bods

It’s got nothing to do with age gogzy, the ink’s hardly dry on your licence yet you blow your trumpet as if you’ve been driving for donkey’s years. Think before you type, you’re young, you’ve got a long road ahead of you, don’t try to walk before you can crawl. It’s not my intention to " shoot you down " you do that yourself with comments like the one above. Don’t take offence at my comments because there is none intended. Good luck.
