Why do we have two regs

this is probably the silliest question i have asked, but i am going to ask it any way

We have the EU Drivers Regs and the RTD(WTD) Regs so why have both as one can contradict the other

why don’t there make just one for Drivers ( I suppose that the 64 thousand dollar question)

Where does one contradict the other

The drivers regulations are for obvious reasons, to regulate the job for safety reasons.
OK some will disagree that the regs make us safe but that’s the intention as far as I’m aware

The WTD is a social regulation that’s there for our own good, that’s why we have little or no say in it

the max hours bit in the wtd says 60 but in the EU ones you could work 12.15 hours for 6 days just basted on a 13 hour day   that my thinking  :stuck_out_tongue:

The EU Driver’s Hours Regulations make no mention of how many hours you can work in a week so they can’t contradict the WTD/RTD which does.

Just because the EU regs allow the possibility of 6x15 hour shifts in the week, 90 hours attending work, doesn’t mean they are contradicting the WTD/RTD because not all of those 90 hours have to be ‘work’.

so it looks like i have used a wrong word(as usual) and mite as well forget it i said it would probably be a silly question
