Wouldnt it be good if the EU was the same all over, with reference to the same fines in each country.Same rules and regs for driving bans and times,if a new driver was starting, one can be daunted and confused with information overload, when going abroad. One country says you can do this and that, over the border, they will say do that and not this. How does the UK get away with trivial amounts of fixed penalties for some major offences, like the driver with a magnet,a few hundred quid, and drivers abroad would get fined thousands of euros, and locked up in the cells.Fair playing field?
The EU are giving us level playing fields - just look at the nice way they have recently given us all the driver cpc !!!
Wanting the EU to act fairly across every country and do what is best for every country is a bit like asking the Uk Govt for a fair voting system - never going to happen…

I’d like to see vat at a level rate across europe.
Belgium has to be one of the most expensive places to live now with vat at 21%.
Everything from food to cars seems to be more expensive here at the moment.
For instance,I’m looking to buy a second hand car at the moment and I can buy one in Germany, with less km’s,for a lot less than in Belgium.I’d buy one in the UK,but the steering wheel is on the wrong side!
Another instance, fresh milk is €1.26 a litre in Belgium. In the Lidl in Germany it is now 54 eurocents a litre. In the UK last weekend I could buy 3 litres for £1.00.
My missus now trawls the UK supermarket websites looking for offers and bargains and we go over every few months and bring back a car-full,which more than covers the cost of the tunnel,in fact, when we compare the prices to what we would have paid here,we actually make a good profit.

Just out of interest is it as simple as buying it and away you go or do you have to import it including paying duty etc., and would it still work out cheaper■■?

it’s because ‘your’ farmers keep spraying it on fields and towns - obviously created a shortage?

I would have to import it and, depending which country I bought it from,I’d have to pay 21% vat on it,which I think is downright unfair as the car would have had vat levied on it when it was new,so the Belgians claim it again.
If I bought it in Germany then I’d pay 19% vat on it there and wouldn’t have to pay it when it was imported.
It’s a minefield of paperwork, rules and regulations and customs formalities, which to honest,I’m not sure about myself.
However,my wife works with a guy that always buys his cars secondhand in Germany and he knows the procedure and has said he’ll sort everything out.
