Why is it that fleet trucks are so poorly equiped?
I know its mainly a cost issue but to not even spec a pair of front fog lights which would surely be in the interests of road safety is beyond me.

They aren’t going to pay for something that is hardly ever used. I can’t remember the last time I used the front fogs on a truck, must be at least a few years and I am pretty sure I’ve only ever used them a handful of times in 28 years doing this job. I have had my current car getting on for 3 years and I have never used the front fogs. In most cases front fogs are nothing more than ornaments and companies are not going to pay extra for ornaments.

Don’t see how front fogs are in the interest of road safety??
Fleet spec trucks are usually treated like ■■■■, and are just a tool of the job, so they buy a tool capable of doing the job.
Because a lot of drivers have no respect for other peoples property. They cant even be bothered to keep the interior clean.

Indeed.

There are less things to break than on a hi-spec one.

Break, fail, fall off, get stolen - If you were a buyer would you specify bling?
Bang on waddy!!
I’ve noticed that since I’ve been on days.

And usually driven by a tool on the job.

i actually asked the question, could we get fog lights fitted to next batch of trucks
t.o so how do we finance them, how often do you use them
me finance them by deleting the sunroofs, how often do i use it,never,i use the air-con
ive no problems with fleet spec trucks,id pick our 380 g-cabs every time over a 440 highline, lot better for the job i do,but that doesnt alter the fact that id much prefer a set of fog lights than a sunroof

and sometimes it was foggy
Front fogs are as much use as a chocolate teapot, id make them basic too if i was in charge because of the abuse they take from all and sundry.

I remember driving a 59 plate fleet motor with less than 10k on the clock. Some ■■■■ had attacked the steering wheel and dash with a knife and put cut marks in both
And then we wonder why fleets buy basic trucks
The OP should be given a truck from the 70’s to use for a week. Like the ones the guys used to do the middle east & back in. Then come back and tell us todays fleet spec trucks are basic.
Ive got aircon, hillstart, sunroof - dont use any of it but if you took my radio and electric windows off me there would be murder
i used my fogs on the a1 last night and to be honest they were not worth a ■■■■ what i dont understand is firms only buying fleet spec for trampers should get at least a fridge
The firms are in the business to make money so they are going to buy a good efficient basic vehicle to do the job
Even the most basic vehicle’s these days have far more extras on them than the lorries of the 60’s and 70’s.Just get on with the job.

What about lane departure systems, blind spot warning alarms, adaptive cruise control or even air bags? These are things I think i’d rather have on the spec sheet before a set of front fog lights from a road safety point of view. Sure they might be expensive extras to have but the price for them would come down if enough fleets fitted them. Front fogs make vision worse IMO anyway.
