Why are drivers so aggressive now

Had a day in a 7.5 tonner today. Birmingham and Nottingham. Now I usually drive a class 1 or 6 wheeler. I was amazed how aggressive artic drivers were to me. Speeding up when being over taken and then in a big depot in Birmingham being treated like something on the bottom of someone’s shoe. Sad really.

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: I’m not aggressive, just my usual happy self
Happens everyone else is probably just trying to get to their destination on time
Dont take it personally if they need to overtake :sunglasses: happy trucking

Many drivers cannot handle stress. These make stress by themselves, more than it have to be.Ignore it…

That’s Brits for ya…!

Small penises! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: ■■■■ for brains :sunglasses:

aggressive or assertive you know you
have to control the road in yours and their interest

7.5t syndrome oh so true

Hiya when i worked at Stanlow i was lucky to have a good number with reasoable
pay. one morning a driver walked into the goods in area to where i’d say good morning
do you want a coffee(i had a key to get to the drinks machine for a free drink)
i then said smiling we don’t unload red(i’d seen his truck outside)lorries on Tuesdays
(it was Tuesday)wow this driver set off on how he’d get on a truck unload himself
flatten anyone that got in his way show all us how to do the job(now please put
a F word between every word he spoke. wow was he grumpy.his blood pressure
must have been 1000 over 80.

Dead right mate ,I get it all the time ,just laugh at them .

As per the title of this thread, there are too many aggressive and dangerous drivers on the roads these days…they need to be aware though that many of us now carry dashcams… and I, for one, won’t hesitate to produce any footage to the police where I personally encounter a dangerous or unduly aggressive driver.

Tin hat on!!

Modern life…

On the school run, at the library, queue for the checkout… everyone is too busy/stressed

Are you sure they weren’t just rolling downhill and gaining a little speed?

It’s not aggression; it’s gravity. :unamused:

Try not running on the limiter for a change and you might just find you’re able to complete your manoeuvres without any drama.

I often wonder the same thing. There is definitely far more aggression on the roads these days.People in general seem to always be in a hurry for some reason.
However try convincing some on here that driving standards have not dropped over the past wee while.
There used to be many courteous drivers on our roads. You would encounter them frequently but now it is hard to remember the last time I came across one.
I can certainly remember the last time I came saw an aggressive one…TODAY…

I must be so thick not to realise what was happening after 30 years. Thanks for educating me. I rest my case

Seen some Knob in an artic overtake a Wilkinsons artic on the A43 heading towards Kettering /A14. Wondered if them extra few minutes made a diff. Trouble is its pricks like that ,that will cause an accident and some other poor Ba…d gets injured.

Don’t be so hard on yourself.

Most “truckers” run on the limiter and can’t understand why they then struggle to overtake something going slightly slower than themselves.

You’re not alone.

I would’ve thought after 30 years you’d be a lorry driver though?

It amazes me how drivers think its ok to sit on the limiter until they are an inch off the one in front then just pull out and expect smaller vehicles to vanish out the way.

I consider myself fairly relaxed as a driver.

I run on the limiter on motorways and duals at night.

If there’s someone trying to pass I’ll knock back a few clicks, if there’s someone ahead I’m catching slowly I’ll leave a safe distance and back off a few clicks

Bad driving enrages me however, so if I’m cut up, honked at (doesn’t happen often), or otherwise inconvenienced by stupidity I’ll apply liberal doses of the educational horn.

However, if you’re aware as a driver you can usually drive round other people incompetence

As for aggressiveness in waiting rooms, loading bays etc. it’s pointless, all you end up doing is annoying yourself

Maybe if rigid drivers showed some manners then they might get some in return have lost count of the number of times I have been waiting to tip when some rigid will turn up drive to the front of the queue and expect to get tipped first, just because I’m in a artic doesn’t mean I am tipping 26 pallets!!! The worse case was at Leathams in London 4 artics waiting on the road outside up comes a rigid straight into the yard demanding to be tipped, when asked about the queue his answer, queue what queue? Hopefully he’ll be off the road by now as there is no way he could pass the eyesight test if he couldn’t see 4 artics queuing outside a yard

Spot on, especially the bit I’ve put in bold.

A bit of aggression is good, it stops you falling asleep and then when you get out and fight and get your head kicked in you can call the Mrs to get you a steak for your black eye and even cook it afterwards, see its got its upsides

I actually find I get more wound up driving home in the car than driving the wagon, dunno why but I do really chill out in the wagon and not much phases me unless its some thing really bad.
I must say there are a lot less manners and courteousness on the roads and not just motorways.
