Can’t I get daf out I ask, not possible comes the reply I will call our wrecker and tow you up to daf in Dijon only I need to phone daf first to guarantee payment of £2000.00 for the tow and £800.00 for him to tell me he can’t fix it. I give my boss the good news and soon I’m towed to Dijon. Daf to their credit got straight on it and had me back on the road within 2hrs of getting there, but how can these companies be allowed to stop the manufacturers coming out to fix you and charge such rediculous rates? At least ■■■■ Turpin wore a mask when on the highway this lot just a smile. As for the runt who caused the excessive cost I hope he gets the clap and dies a painfully slow death.

Unfortunately in France, they are a law unto themselves. Just how it is on the motorways over there. Because they have you over a barrel they can charge whatever they wish.
Mine was towed 22km across Limoges to MAN dealer last Tuesday, 1500euros for towing and they are still working on electrical fault…
You do know their struggling in France with the recession, your just helping them out.

Same with tyres, you won’t get a bill of less than £1,000 if you have a blowout on the motorway in France, and they won’t let you change a tyre yourself.
Talking of call out charges,i had an air pipe break while climbing a steep hill near Pamplona in my DAF.
I phoned DKV,to my surprise two 100 ton mobile cranes arrived,of which the Basque Police had ordered.
I rang DKV to say no need for cranes.
An old van turns up and the pipe is fixed.Not charged for the cranes.
I suppose being on first name terms with the Mayor of Pamplona helped oil the wheels on that particular breakdown Tobes. Back on subject, yeah total rip off!
