Recieved a request for help, can anyone help out with any info or especially with number 3 contact me and I will pass on the info
(1) Could you by any chance tell me or could you tell me how to find out the bridge heights on the N138 please? I spent a lot of Friday on the internet and couldnāt get any info, neither through the AA or RAC. I cancelled our RHA subscription a year ago so canāt use them either. I tried Trucking mag on the phone but switchboard jammed all day. The transporter we are using is 4.2 metres high. Could you help at all? Have you any thoughts?
(2) It would also be hugely helpful if anyone knew of an overnight truck stop just Sough of Rouen on the N138 where the truck and crew could stop safely overnight.
(3) (you thought those were longshots! If you know of an HGV driver who has some time off, is a motor racing enthusiast, and would like to drive our rig for us (from Colchester via Dover/Calais to Le Mans) for his keep, beer money and Le Mans ticket, one reluctant truckie this end would be a happier man! We leave first thing Tuesday 8th and return straight-through on Monday 14th.
Never worked with metres but from what I remember when I worked on the shows 14ā6" was the maximum anywhere in Framce, we used to attend Le Mans. If you are not sure try contacting another team that regularly attends.
Itās a 14ā6" limit on most ferries anyway.
davey if youd given a bit more notice id have driven it down for a ticket. i cant get the time off this quickly now⦠pity though⦠sorry . how about trying a few french hauliers for the info? norbert dirtystrangler might be able to help you. ive done the le mans road with a tilt at 4.1 and had no trouble. its a while ago though so i cant remember the bridges.. good luck anyway sorry just read it properly!! its for someone else  .. id still have gone with more notice⦠never mind

Just recieved the e-mail this morning Jon, it looks like their own driver is not to keen but will do it as a last resort. If I hadānt had so much on with our recent aquisition I would have done it myself But Iāve had to get an Agency driver in to cover my own committments

My personal thoughts on this is, unless it is a charity why are they expecting a driver to work 1 week away from home for beer money and a ticket to somewhere they are required to be so they can deliever?

i can see what your saying tc,but i think its a case of if your a hgv driver and your say on holiday and aināt doing anything, would you like a freebie.all expences are paid for food drink and ticket, plus it might be something that the driver would love to do but canāt afford it so here they have that opportunity to get there dream come true. nice offer if your into that sort of thing

I can see where you are comming from KK but if someone does this for free, surely it would be putting a driver out of a job! as I say unless its for charity they should pay the rate for the Job!
i doubt if there will be any heavy lifting as they have a team of guys that do the unloading normally.but its not about the pay,as it says if you have an interest in racing cars etc, then heres your chance to get close up.and they will give you a bed food drink money and a ticket into the racing, canāt ask for more than that can you tc.

Yep a days pay for a days work!
as for the free ticket, Iāll sit outside if it costs them money! which it wonāt

nobody is forcing you to go,all davey asked if there was anyone interested in doing them a turn.they are giving things to you for nothing,i know that they wonāt pay for most if any of the things, but its only if your interested,if you want to be paid for a job tc then i suppose you can go out with an agency tomorrow and the rest of the week, instead of having a nice drive over there in nice weather and have no calls asking you to go here there and everywhere.its your choice mate.
Okay the Lass is called Heather, whats happened is their regular driver is not available, they do have another driver who has just passed his C+E but is a bit dubious of doing the driving just after passing his test. Itās a legit company in Colchester, and I think they are just looking for the chance od an experienced driver being there.
E-Mail me for her E-Mail address as I dont want to put it in public
But it is starting on Tuesday Morning, obviously itās more or less a food and drink and ticket, for ensuring the vehicle gets there safely. You can always argue wages etc but itās not so long ago drivers were saying they would love the chance of doing this kind of work so I put it up here for you to decide.
youāre alright āanywhereā in france up to 4.50m - but thatās same as you being alright āanywhereā in uk up to 5.00m, i.e there are a few exceptions but they will be marked (including in advance) and very few are on main routes
i would do this job for the terms offerd, but unfortunately i drive only weekends for a pigeon federation ,if yr still still stuck i could could arrange someone to drive mine this week, ime a racing fanatic and would love the chance to be behind the scenes regardles of moneyā¦
