Who's got a Roadhawk?

Not the ‘phone app’. :exclamation:

Who’s got and uses a Roadhawk CCTV system in their truck?

Am thinking of getting one as an early crimbo prezzi for myself. (She got a Kobo).

Rate or slate it? Worth the £££?

they must be good, we are in the process of having them fitted to all 35 of our trucks, just a shame though roadhawk havent designed one that captures video to the left/right of the truck not just looking straight ahead,

would be a good investment, what are they £200■■. save lots of hastle etc if its all on film.

There is a website somewhere that are doing them for about £120 plus vat.

£200? Bit like when mobiles were the ‘new’ gadget.

Not saying they’re a ‘must have’ gadget though.

Mega expensive at first, but slowly slowly they come down in price as new ‘competition’ comes on the market. (Guessing)

I’d spend the extra little bit and get one of those mate. The Roadhawk which I’ve got is VGA but this is new and 1080p. Almost the same price.

The firm i work for has them fitted in all motors, ranging from vans to 44 tons. They have been in for about 1 year now. I’ve not took too much notice of them as i do a simple night trunk. They just film the road ahead, and i believe they can store the film for quite some time before it over writes itself. The pros are that you would be able to have video evidence to back up your case, in the event of an accident. The con’s are that your boss can download this and look at your style of driving.
There is another large sheet feeding firm, not far from us, that uses it’s own in house haulage, that is owned by an American company, they use a similer system, but their cameras film the driver also. No smoking or nodding off in their cabs.

just got this great piece of kit for the price £30 +£3 postage

I’ve got one of the ones posted above. Its a cheap alternative to an expensive road hawk and it does the job just as well.

Got one of these too and are great for the price.

Do those LEDs light up when recording? That’ll be brilliant here in London! Obvious they have been recorded! :sunglasses: Looks like a great bit of kit!

I think those LEDs are the infra red LEDs for night recording. I’ve heard they can reflect off the windscreen when recording, meaning you get a bright light in the middle of the picture in night vision videos.

Try tam electronics ,Nottingham .i got one 80.00 Billy’s .

No,they dont light up at all…

Hi Guys, just got one of these in the picture, the little lenses are not LED’s, they are motion sensors, you can set it at night when you bed down and if there is any movement, it picks it up and starts fiming, saves the memory, not having to leave it on recording all the time, Can’t beat it for £29.99 plus postage.

I have a road hawk.
After being brake tested by a maniac
In a mondeo a while back.
I hadn’t had it in for many weeks when it paid for itself.
Heading north on the new A46 dc a car moved over into the outside lane and hit me. I ended up pushing it along the road sideways.
Anyway, when the time came to deal with the insurance, she claimed it was down to me:)
Sent footage to my broker.
Sorted.

We got given one by Towergate Insurance, no idea on the retail of it but it’s definetly a good system, plenty of vids on Youtube to back this up.

Ta for the replies so far.

By the looks of it, I’m swaying towards the roadhawk for some reason, don’t know if it’s because of the GPS / google maps partof it…

The LED’s are infra-red emitters, motion sensing will be done via the CCD (compares successive frames, substantial changes trigger recording).

i got one , and its ace , had others which were rubbish,

you need a big memory card in it , not the crappy 4 gig one that comes with it
