Whoops

He grits one bit of road at a time, he’s slow but thorough.

Not to good for those lads is it, the grit comes out the back so no help to them.

aren’t they supposed to spread it evenely

They should reverse then :unamused:

that was the second one to go over in a couple of days

OOOOOOOOOOPS if i aint mistaken thats one of shropshire councils brand new 62 plates :open_mouth:

If we’re not careful the Elf & Safety nuts will stop gritters going out in the winter :unamused:

we might all laugh at a couple of gritters that have done a whoopsy,
BUT somebody has to go out to try and keep our roads open…
I’m surprised there aren’t more pics like this,
and why doesn’t someone invent an attachment to spread some of this grit in front of the gritter as it goes along ■■?

AND, here’s a big THANK YOU to all them gritter drivers, keep up the good work.

keeping the roads open for us

They showed one upside down by Shrewsbury on the news last night.

hi
is there a reason that gritter lorries spread salt from the rear behind the wheels ? our american cousins have a much better system , the body tips from the rear thus tipping the salt out in front of the rear wheels giving better traction , still , what do the yanks know lol

I remember back in the days of my youth the spinning spreader wheel was mounted under the front offside of the body. Plus side- this provided better traction for the gritting vehicle. Minus side- there had to be a removable section of floor in the body and it was necessary to have two chaps out in the weather shovelling grit down the hole.

We used them in Scotland in the 60s and 70s called a (love this name) ‘‘Tuke and Bell’’ and they were the only ones that could get into the hill areas

If they have the plow on the front how is the grit going to get pass it
coming out the front

If he was wearing his hi-viz it would not have happened.

Plough on front, then the cab, then the tipper body with a hole in the floor at the front offside corner.
