can someone explain how you would level a load with a tipper?
He’d loaded the trailer front heavy and was adjusting the load to the rear by tipping the body until some of the load moves to the rear of the trailer , unfortunately this time it went wrong!
When I was on a short wheelbase six wheeler I had to tip it up every load of stone to level it, otherwise the front axle was way overloaded due to the rear arch being sited forward from the taildoor and I couldn’t drag the sheet across either. Sometimes thought that it might go over or the taildoor break off but it never did. I remember loading 6mm granite at Bardon Hill, 17 tonne dropped out in about 10 seconds!! I had nearly as much outside the body as inside it, never bothered going in there again haha!
Nowadays you can’t even level the load by hand thanks to the H & S brigade stopping you going into the body so I guess the driver had little choice apart from tipping it off and starting again?
