Saw a poster in dhl stoke warning about big increase in theft from trucks parked around M5 J1, 2 and M6 J8, 9 and 10
4 full loads taken last month, beer and metal being targeted
Probably nothing to do with the 2 permanent big gypsy camps off jct 11 M6 
To be fair if you are daft enough to park up on somewhere other than a designated Truckstop with a valuable load you are asking for it.
I know they also are not 100% safe, but at least in an insurance claim situation you can say that you hsd done everything to avoid it …other than kipping in your trailer.

Put it this way Northampton Police smashed a major criminal gang from Liverpool who were involved in a load of the load thefts around the Northampton area on the A45, A43. They had their own 7 and half tonne truck and they would recce the lay bys for trucks that had valuable loads on, call the driver in the 7 and half tonne truck who would arrive and pull up at the side of whichever truck they had targeted. The driver would then pretend to be on a break reading the paper and having a drink/■■■ with the cab light on whilst the rest of the gang would open the curtain on the their truck, climb inside the back and shut the doors, cut the curtain on the other truck and fill theirs up with goods and then ■■■■ off.
People driving past would just see the 7 and half tonne truck parked up with what looked like the driver having a break not realising that actually half the load on the other truck was getting lifted.
Another Liverpool gang were caught with doing trailer thefts from depots around the south/South East of England too.

You really think that gypsies would be that stupid as to pinch on their own doorstep? Jesus christ it’s the first place the old bill would look at.
I’ve parked on ind est when gypsies have been parked up on them also on the A66 when Appleby horse fair is on as I know I’d get no trouble because it doesn’t take rocket science to work out if any diesel or ouwt when missing who the main culprits would be.
It’s useually folk from outside the area that do this stuff.
