Who won't flash who in

I never flash Royal Mail in, never get a chance as they are always coming back over way too early.

^^ This. Same with just about every HGV tbh. There’s no shame in leaving a long enough gap before pulling in so the driver behind doesn’t have to slow down to maintain a safe distance you know.

I get flashed in more often when I’m in an unrestriced 7.5 belting past at 70 than I do in a rigid creeping past at 0.1mph faster. Mind you, the bendy drivers do shun us mere class II drivers :grimacing:

Do you need a flash in with a 7.5?

Yes if its 100 foot long :grimacing:

I always thought Stobart drivers don’t flash in Royal Mail because of Jealousy? :unamused:
When driving RM artics through the roadworks @ 50, I might find myself sandwiched between two supermarket lorries, whilst being steamed passed by a stobarts motor like he’s crapped his bed! He’ll not wait for you to flash him in, since he’ll just cut into the “idiots space” you’ve left between you and the grub wagon that was in front of you…

Those nice sleek red motors, compared to their compost-liveried cut-curtained wagons full of biomass which is just another name for compost…

RM with their national pay scales means you should be able to live like a lord on a post driver’s pay up north… Are there any northern network drivers on here to comment on that suggestion?

It wasn’t that long ago when stobarts dropped their “sacking for not wearing a tie” thing wasn’t it?

Does anyone know or heard of an accident between two artics that involved one flashing the other in?

Unless they’ve already cut in, I flash in just about anything (except private cars, as their drivers usually have no idea what I mean). There’s no effort involved, good manners cost nothing, and the vast majority of drivers show their appreciation, so I must be doing something right.

Cyclists.

being on the coaches at the moment i was curious to know why a few drivers dont flash in a coach.

i might go a little faster than the average lorry but when i see a lorry coming down a slip road to join a duel carraigeway or a motorway i always move over to let them join the main carraigeway if i cant move out i always slow down and flash them out same if a lorry is wanting to pull out to overtake i flash them out which is why i believe they should allow coaches to use the outside lane of the motorway to help with the flow of traffic, i know some will disagree with coaches going 8kmp faster than a lorry but with the price of fuel im sure some coach operators will screw down the limiters to save a ew quid.

Coaches never say thank you so I don’t flash them in, if they are carrying kids they are busy pulling fingers as they pass but that’s another story unrelated to the driver. I’d give way to a coach or another hgv joining the carriageway but never a car driver…!

I asked the wife for a flash and got told to 'k off.

That’s not what you said in your ‘first night out’ post :smiling_imp:

It is not what his wife said either. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well put F/D. I remember the mirrors on the first wagon I drove round ones the size of a teacup, this was a Bedford A 5, then I had an Atki/Albion Etc with the oblong ones on a ball joint for adjustment, When you look at the mirrors on to-days motors there is no comparison, but I agree with flashing overtaking motors in. Regards Larry, PS In my younger days when I started driving I would have got a clip on the ear for not doing so off my older mates.

Hardly any point flashing the headlamps anyway
