You were right by holding your position, you had already overtaken the other artic therefore he was in the wrong to try and undertake you, there are too many macho drivers who try that one on. He put himself in the situation by doing it, but he should have held his position as well now he is there, the driver entering off the slip should have backed off or prepared to stop, maybe even used the hard shoulder as every good driver would do to avoid causing another situation. In the end the driver of the artic that undertook you is not a good driver and really needs to go on a refresher course before he causes a pile up.

Right in answer to all the people who want to know what i did (especially Jacqueline cos she shouted at me )

When they guy started shouting abuse that was’nt a problem BUT when he tried forcing me into the fast lane i totally and utterly lost it and started giving it back then opened the passenger window and lobbed a can of red bull at his cab then tried to force him to stop by shoving him over to the hard shoulder which at that point he backed off i kept trying to get him to stop on the hard shoulder be he wouldnt come anywhere near after that.

Now before everyone starts

im never like this but due to the fact im [zb]ing starving because im going in hospital tuesday afternoon so i hadnt eaten since teatime monday i wasnt in the best of moods
what gives him the right to illegally pass me on the inside then try to force me into lane 3 when his dodgy move goes wrong
Just because he is in a big tuff truck doesnt mean he can get away with bullying other road users (i drive a 17 tonner)
If your brave enough to mouth off then at least be brave enough to back up the mouth

Now as ive said above it wasnt the best decision ive ever made but the [zb] really did deserve it and the only thing i regret is throwing the can at him (expensive stuff that red bull ya know)

If you read the post it says i had already past him and was 3/4s of the way past the next one when momentum came into effect and the one i was passing shot off and the one i HAD ALREADY PASSED shot up the inside and so it began

Simon, I think you were 100% right in holding your ground. This subject is one of my pet hates, as the general motoring public are of the opinion that we are obliged to move over to allow them to join the motorway or any other main road. This is not always possible, and therefore they should adjust their speed accordingly, but we all know that they wear blinkers and their forward vision ends at the rear of the vehicle they are following - usually about 2-3 in the case of most car drivers. As for the muppet in the artic - all I can say is that, because of his inconsiderate action, he got himself into the situation, but of course, because hes the best driver in the world, it`s all your fault

I would never do any thing like that. NEVER.
But I did once accidentally spill half the contents of a can of Coke into an open top car.
The air hole was trying to push past a line of cars at a set of traffic lights & he forced me to go onto the pavement to avoid hitting him.
Normally I just pull up nice & gently very very close to their front bumpers forcing them to reverse to get back into their own lane, but as he gave the finger I pulled up along side & emptied the can on him, to loud cheers from those he was pushing past.
It was just before 9am & he was all dressed up, so I would guess it spoilt his day some what.

I had one last week from, Thompsons .co.uk well that is what it said on the back of the trl, i have not got round to mailing them yet but i will , he kept trying to push me out of the middle lane, trouble was he could not see what was in front of me because he was inches of back door’s, no number plate on trl but he had a plate on front with myarse on it . I have also noted that when i don’t have trl with me other artic driver’s are’nt as polite

Have you all gone nuts? Is the conclusion that we should all now react “red bull road rage” style and push each other onto the hard shoulder whilst luzzing cans of fizzy pop?

If so, I hope you’re looking well ahead and vision isn’t blocked by red mist / red bull / other trucks ! The hard shoulder is the most dangerous place to be on a motorway — and HGV drivers are now advocating its the play lane at tantrum time?

I don’t get it right 100% of the time (who does?) — accidents are avoided by anticipating / allowing for another drivers mistakes/bad attitude.

I’ve read all the posts above. If you can’t get past an idiot like that, I still think its better to back off and keep a fair distance behind (pull in and have a coffee, chill for a bit).

Too many Mad Max videos being watched? Just the sort of topic that the anti hgv brigade love to use! Take my hat off to Simon for sharing the experience — but I don’t condone what he did.
