Who the fuck organises these road closures

Last night about 23.30, leaving Thurrock to go to Guildford for petrol delivery, couldn’t get onto the M25 before Crossing, gets over crossing, divert because A2 shut, off motorway then back on, carry on M25, oh! oh!. cannot continue M25, more diversions as you continue to the M21, must have lost about an hour all told, what was it for, never saw a lot going on to justify the closures, or are the companies that do this baffling Highways Agencies to earn more cash.

Sapper

For HA motorways and trunk roads, you can find planned closures by going to TRAFFIC ENGLAND and checking the “Disruption alerts” http://www.trafficengland.com/disruptions.aspx#ds that doesn’t include stuff that’s council work, or anything that needs to be done as “Emergency work” i.e. where the results of an RTC has taken a good length of barrier down which then needs to be replaced straight away, or where a vehicle fire etc has damaged the surface. These you’d find under the “traffic alerts” toolbar.

Just had a little look at the M25, there’s lots of work going on there, with overnight closures all over the place.

They win prizes for the most Baffling Diversions they can come up with, the bigger the lorry that they’ve sent down the most inappropriate road- the bigger the prize ! LOL !

So that’s it, now it suddenly makes sense. :open_mouth:

I think you are being generous by saying " organises"

On the way to Purfleet the other day, they closed J30/31 and sent you over the bridge and back through the tunnel. There was no warning until it was too late that the large tunnel was closed, so if you were going to tesco Purfleet with a decker, your screwed. How pathetic is that? Saw 2 green army lorries in the holding areas with Tesco doubles on.
