Who misses it in the car?

Quite often in the car ill try for 6th gear, much to the amusement of my wife

toowise:
I’ve sat behind a truck in lane 2 for a few miles before realising I can use lane 3.

Done that many times

Not so much truck related but after changing cars I now wave my hand all over looking for the handbrake…only to remember that it is foot operated on this one.
and I still signal a left/right turn by putting on the wipers.
But I did used to look for the exhaust brake on the floor of my Disco, especially when towing the caravan as I would be in “truck mode” on those occasions

I rarely drive our car, so when I do, I often put the washers on instead of the exhaust brake, and have been known to change gear without using the clutch, instead pressing the non-existent button on the side of the gear stick (a la Comfort Shift). She keeps promising to ban me from driving the car, I live in hope…

I always check bridge heights when I’m in the car before I drive under them. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think most of us do, and I keep reaching up onto the dash for the handbrake :grimacing:

DaiDap:
It’s usually when the car starts juddering when I’m slowing for the lights that i remember there’s a clutch pedal fitted and i need to press the ■■■■ thing.

When i drove a Daf for some reason i always used to press the non existent thumb button to drop a split when in the car.

Was that exact reason I sold my manual car and bought an auto

Since I started doing a 75 mile round trip to work I have bought a Prius.

It has a sort of retarder (labelled B on the drive selector) which uses the electric motor to put extra charge into the hybrid system when you take your foot off the throttle. It has a very noticable effect when you use it, so now I use it more than the brakes for slowing down, it feels right after driving a lorry.

Best bloody car I ever had.

I sometimes try and pull away using second gear. I also keep going for the radio volume up in the bloody roof

And we all wonder why our car insurance companies want to treat us as a higher risk :unamused:

Took the Fun Cop to Asda and put opposite lock to start a reverse into a space! Taken corners wide to get the trailer round!

Gembo:
.hiya
I also keep going for the radio volume up in the bloody roof after 10 years of jacking driving in
also checking the bridge heights. what a plonker

Not all of them.

Adelaide Insurance Services in partnership with the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists), the UK’s leading road safety charity have put together an outstanding car insurance package for truck drivers (LGV/HGV) and bus drivers (PCV) which recognises the high standard of driving skills that these UK drivers have acquired in passing rigorous driving tests therefore making them better CAR drivers. With these enhanced driving skills we see truck and bus drivers as less of an insurance risk on the road than your average car driver and as a result could save them some money on their personal car insurance!

triple-tango:

No! I divorced the ■■■■■ :exclamation:

i regularly go for exhaust brake and try to go down half a gear split on the gearbox.

do that many times usually with the misses saying what ■■■■■■■ space are you aiming for
when at t jnc il pull right out and swing onto the wrong side of rd in a focus that usually is with the wife asking if the car has grown since i last got in it :grimacing: :grimacing:

forgetting to use 1st gear when moving off (probably the worst one for me.)

trying to check the the non-existant kerb mirror

trying to “raise” the seat before I realise it’s not airsprung… :unamused:

(I always like to drive with the seat as high as possible in the truck.)

I think my misses hates having me as a passenger , the line " I’d get the bloody lorry in there" seems to ■■■■ her off a bit ! …

does anybody else open the car door and try to find the step and grab handle?? (in a ford focus)

Driving past our yard one day on my way to the shops I pulled in and reversed under a trailer, still can’t shut the ■■■■■■ boot properly
