hello
I was just wondering who has the biggest fleet that never goes over water as in stays in England, Scotland and Wales, as u see loads that do UK and Europe? I was thinking a supermarket but think a lot of them are owned by other firms like stobart, norbert or wincanton and do they might send trailers to Ireland.
DHL are by far the biggest truck operator in the UK. Last I heard they operated about 12 thousand trucks.

yes, but DHL go over the water with their trucks, the OP asked who is the biggest that does NOT go over the water
Bloody stupid question then. Most DHL trucks don’t even get anywhere near the coast or do nights out, never mind go over the water.

yes, but, DHL do go in to Europe with their trucks, Coffeeholic used to go over regular for them, along with at least one other member of the forum
Are you classing N.I. as over the water ?
most supermarkets and high street stores send trailers if not trucks over there.
I would have thought Downtons are close but then again do they send Pets at Home trucks across to Ulster ?
Some of the larger Bulk transport companies such as Agribulk may be in with a chance of being the biggest UK only company.

Yes the pets at home wagons here in NI come direct as runners from the UK,i spoke to a driver one day and he said he normally comes in and out in same day,3 or 4 deliveries on a double deck with mounty forklift.
Do Royal mail go over,if not its probably them .

It depends on whether they send trailers to the Channel Islands, which are technically not part of the EU and would, if we’re being picky, be classed as overseas.
Anyone know?

One of our blokes was parked next to a Downtons motor in a Spanish service station a few months ago.
Knights of old are becoming a more regular sight in ireland, and sports direct is here too.
coop think they got a shop in every postcode in the country!!
Royal Mail have a lot more depots than DHL that are “vehicle operating centres” (ie run the O licence) whereas the fewer DHL depots are invariably full of vans. Considering how busy kent is for operators, I have no idea where the nearest DHL depot is that runs a fleet of artics out of there, rather than a faraway RDC somewhere.
According to this website, RM have 1515 HGV’s in circulation. That number seems a bit low to me, but it’s been two years since I left, so it’s quite possible the scythe of cutbacks has been deeper than apparent to me personally.

They don’t have one up this street, despite the whole street being the same postcode!
i did say think!!! but it is the first part of postcode bd1, bd2, etc.
Have they got one in postcodes like ZE and KW? Not knowing Scotland myself, I’m only shooting in the dark here of course!
