AndrewG:
The LWB 4x2’s with side side air kits always look so clean and aerodynamic.
Yep totally agree with you those side kits really finish off a truck with the 4 leggers looking the best .
Specced my FH with full air kit and low fifth wheel to get the overall height down to 3.9 M pulling a VanHool. Always going to be more aerodynamic than a 6x2 but surprised more UK hauliers dont do more to improve air flow, big gaps around fuel/air tanks/ battery boxes ect all add to drag and higher fuel consumption. Its just something that doesnt seem to have caught on in the UK…
Interesting to know how much the cost would be versus how much you’ll save on fuel or rather how long it’ll take to get your money back.
Usual run each week is Malaga to Calais/Reims return, around 4K km a week, my fuel bill is pretty big each month, even a small %age is worth having
Weren’t they in Commercial Motor a while back with a full spread and a story of how they specced up their ideal Volvo because thats all they will ever use?

Some do, they run the mini midlift with a side kit to cover it over but most will use a standard vehicle which the dealer already has in stock because its about 10k cheaper than a factory order. It takes a lot of 0.1mpg gains to make up ten grands worth of saving.

Didn’t see that about Gibbs and Volvo. Their 1st new last year was a Volvo followed by the Daf this. Sensible way to compare costs I suppose.
Historically they ran quite a few Dafs.
