I was pulled 9 times in 2 years, worked for a small company using old units and trailers but they were well maintained, I never had any problems at all.
The worst experience I had was when I was pulled on the A38 just outside our yard, I’d been pulled 1 week before and nothing found wrong but this A’hole pulled me and my lorry apart trying to get me, , even accused me of parking overnight outside my house which he told me was illegal (I never had). What an idiot he was.
When I was pulled again another 2 weeks later the VOSA bloke told me they have no interest in pulling the same people too often as it wastes everyones time, then proceeded to go over my wagon with a fine toothcomb . ■■■■■■■■■ the lot of them, it doesn’t matter that you’re polite and friendly to them, if they can get money out of you or your firm they will.
grabster:
24 yrs back drove grab tipper, BRAND NEW, good pay ,sweet hours, downside?, it had obvious Irish name on it, N/London herts area.
Now if you want ‘‘persecution’’ this is the route to go,{english btw}, dread to be in an irish plated motor, bad enough with english plates, how many times did I get pulled, what weekly? or daily?
Done the same as well, driving a lovely green grab but if i had a quid for every time i was pulled and usually breathalysed…
Never failed either.
i’ve been driving grabs since i passed my test in 1999(london-herts also) and havent had that much grief from plod/vosa
touch wood.perhaps its because the firms ive worked for have a good reputaion or just been bloody lucky- most likely
been pulled a few times at the weighbridge on the A13 dagenham(ship and shovel) ,the vosa man was doing his wheelnut tapping and my mate says “watch this”-he opens passenger door over mateys head whilst he’s checking n/s front wheel ,stands up with the door over him and splits his head open!! i thought we were ■■■■■■ then but they couldnt get us for anything. used to avoid going that way after that!
WOLTER KOOPS must hold the record round here.
The vosa just luuuuuv pulling em in.
I got talking to a vosa man at a butty bar a while ago, he told me that one of KOOPS drivers told him the boss said “we pay the fine, you just carry on”
Vosa come in for a lot of stick on here, some of it is justified, but when you look at it the vosa are the only weapon we have against the hordes of flip flops.
they want leave me alone i pull steel bulkers carrying scrap soon as they me full off scrap iam pulled in straight away thay never find nowt wrong but they pull me in bit sick of it they keep u there to long its takin the wee
Been well over 3 years since my last pull ( bet i get pulled next week since i said that) never fussed if pulled or not as much as pain can be im always legal and truck is 1 year old now and hoping for the new mp4 on next reg and trailer kept up to date boss doesnt like problems so they get fixed or it stays in yard simple. Plus im payed by hour so works in my favour
