Who else has a preserved HGV on here?

I’ve recently ticked an item off me bucket list by selling a couple of me bikes that were gathering cobwebs, and buying this;

Foden S21, 150 Gardner, Foden 12-speed “Chinese puzzle” box. Built 1963, new to Tate & Lyle Liverpool as a bulk tanker. Worked until at least 1989 (last plate in cab), converted to flatbed by a previous owner and carries an insulated container on the back, fitted out as living space with cooker, fridge, running water and gas heater.

I’ve been looking through the old-timers section a bit but thanks to Photobucket and the like stating to charge and blocking pics, it’s a bit haphazard in there and the threads ramble on forever.

So, as per title; who else runs a vintage HGV? Show us yer pics!

I’ve had this 20 years now, I’ve been all over in it then parked it up for a while but it’s out again now, sometimes with my youngest daughter behind the wheel, she loves driving it, she drives a Renault artic most days & all her mates think it’s a great lorry.

My eldest grandson went out a few weeks ago with me in it, he thought it was “awesome” as he put it. He can’t quite reach the pedals yet but he’s growing fast.

It’s pictured here as wedding transport for my eldest daughter to our local church, she said as she’d grown up the lorry had been a big part of her life so what better to go to church in.

It also doubles up as as a log store, well it keeps them dry for next winter.

Very nice! A real credit to you.

I really wanted a two stroke Foden; my late father worked for Hoveringham Gravels and I grew up hearing them screaming out of the quarry which was only a mile down the road. The company’s old breakdown truck, a converted S21 tipper which Dad had a very small part in building, came up for grabs a couple of years ago but the restoration was beyond my means and skills; happily it has now found a new home back in Nottinghamshire and restoration begins next year.

Realistically, though, they’re a bit specialist and probably a lot thirstier than this thing, plus you can still buy Gardner spares off the shelf.

An F12 is on my bucket list

An F12 is on my bucket list

This has only just been pensioned off where I do a bit of part time driving.

We used it mostly to tow broken down buses in, it was ballasted to about 15 tons.

A good friend of mine owns this TK-he’s not a member on here so I thought I’d add it on his behalf -it’s fitted with a 466 engine from a KM ,two speed axle and we fitted a five speed overdrive box-its actually very civilised to drive,and certainly doesn’t hold any traffic up!!
