As an englishman who has worked for companies north and south of the border my own personel view is scotland for ever.loved to see the scottish lorries on preston lorry park in the 50s and to me the trucks, the colours, the sheeting and roping and the drivers always where and still are the best,my family all know that i wished i was born a scot and grow up to be a driver for one of the famous (many sadly gone)scottish hauliers.

Coultards? Scotland used to look smart,with the coach lines,buckles etc,but,a proper lorry has to be GREEN !,any GREEN with gold lettering,coachlines,“Whatever”.
Mc Phees,N’cle,Matlock transport…
So,North or South,the best hauliers have GREEN lorries.

i hate green lorries , i’ve only driven for two firms with green lorries and both lorries got written off . one my fault and the other nailed head on by a sleepy driver .

Not to worry,the best “Money” i have earnt,was with,Red lorries,Silver with blued go fast stripes,lorries,and two tanker firms,one blue and white,the other,orange and white.
I just think that proper “Working Girl”,lorries should be Green,they look the part,no nonsense types.

If your looking for good looking green trucks how about Naylors of Leyland , and from the same area Clarendon Haulage from Blackburn , Paul Hincliffe from Bury , and now gone unfortunately W&J Riding from Longridge , my own favourite Mayors of Preston . PS another very nice looking fleet Smiths of Bury .

Called into a heavy haulage yard for a load up that way,GREEN 
lorries,think the name began with A… They weren’t to shabby either,i think McPhees of n’cle have gone to. Used to watch them coming up through the centre of Derby,50’s,huge ingots of metal on 8 leggers,turning right just before the,“Spot” and snorting up Babbington Lane"?,en route to B’ham and the other towns… DUD-Lie
