buses go down it,chance it and act stupid it’s along way round either way ,we do it every day

There is a 7.5t restriction in the Grasmere area, depends what your driving otherwise it may be along a66, m6 , kendal .

18 ton rigid did that route anyway short wheelbase not going and comin off at kendal and comin that way

Yeah I know mate just a joke 
it’s a 1/30 hill I think the joint steepest in England with Sutton Bank if I’m not mistaken. Like you said though some planners think its ok even though its single track with passing places and 180deg hairpin bends with something like a 1/5 gradient on them! 
Kirkstone iirc is doable in an artic, Hardknott is a deffo no no, done both on a push bike many many pork pies ago.
