Sounds like water in the oil, definitely would get it checked out, along with the head gasket

Normally,

blue smoke is burning oil,
black smoke is overfueling
white smoke is water in the oil.

Simple explanation and not totally reliable

Don’t know if this still works but when where I used to work and this started to happen we put a shot of EASY START into the air intake - just the once and just before starting the engine for the first time in the morning.

Boy did it blow out the crap !!!

HI JD, I reckon I’d put that in the defect book, mention it on a trip-sheet, and report it verbally by phone asap.
If an office monkey tells you to carry on driving it, ask for an sms text to that effect.
:bulb: It sounds like it could turn out be an expensive repair, so I’d say an arse covering exercise is needed.

In this case “CF” might stand for Completely Fried … Or any other word beginning with “F.” :grimacing:

could be the air intake pipe split for the oil cooler or the turbo on its way out

Might be steam, water could be getting into the combustion chamber which means your head gasket is ■■■■■■

NEVER EVER use easy start on a new truck it ■■■■■ up the valves and it becomes beholden to it and will never start without it

if it was head gasket it would smoke all the time, but because its when he blips the throttle,i would point at the air intake pipe for the turbo/oil cooler

We have had 2 dafs with white smoke problems both cases turbos gone…

check the oil to see if its white-ish, or watery, sounds like water in the oil

head gasket or very worse piston liner may have cracked,

or as other’s have said turbo etc etc

Old wives tale I reckon nowadays. What it did was washed the bores and removed huge amounts of carbon from around valve seats, piston rings and created a big explosion using ether. because the carbon was washed away, the compression was lost which made it difficult to start without easy start. Modern lubricants prevent the build up of carbon, That’s how I was told it worked and that explanation works for me

Just check the water level when cold, if its not used or there is no mayo in the water its not a head gasket…

Looks more like its a turbo about to let go, or one on the turbo pipes is cracked or gone ‘porous’

Most likely turbo going IMHO
Check engine oil level every day now, you might be running on it.

hitachi ex135 the same white smoke = turbo at 3500 hours

I thought white smoke was the norm for steam powered engines!!

Coat…

Hat…

TAXI…

my old iveco van had that problem aswell and it went in many times to the garage to get it fixed and it always came back the same, ■■■■■ at a m philips. even when i managed to strip the camshaft (dont ask i dont know either) they still never managed to fix it event hough it basically required an engine rebuild and a hire van for 3 weeks.

I would go along with the others at the moment and plump for the Turbo, stop, report it and let the office make the decision to continue, although the turbo is driven by the exhaust gases, bits of turbine have a tendency to go the opposite way and into the engine.

Here is one I prepared earlier which demonstrates the overfueling too

Being an ex hgv mechanic i would go for the turbo and as already said get it seen to as soon,as i have seen and repaired the damamge when the propeller breaks up and enters the engine.

Not got a clue, what it is, but will take a guess that it is basically ■■■■■■ ■■?
