In fairness that was the Essex Police press release that was reported by all news outlets including print.
I think that was just down to very weak police work but the Wiltshire Branch have a very strange relationship with the truth.
A driver pulls into a lay-by and hears banging in the trailer near Chippenham. He calls the cops and 15 illegals jump out. Driver gets arrested and taken into custody for smuggling and I guess the illegals are in a hotel before the innocent driver is released.
Meanwhile the police make a press announcement.
A police spokesman said: "We were called by a member of the public shortly before 8.30pm this evening following a report of suspicious activity involving a lorry on the A350 near Chippenham.
"Officers attended the scene and located 15 people in the rear of the vehicle.
Now why would they tell everyone it was a member of the public rather than the driver who called them I wonder■■?
Moral of the story is never call the cops in theses situations unless you quickly want to change your status from Totally Innocent Driver to being The Only Defendant.
