best way for fuel eco from sheffield to telford ■■

Have done this trip before doing both routes, M1, A38, A5, A460, M54 & M1,A42(M42),M6, M54

A38 route 2 hours 2mins

M42 route 2 hours 10 mins (further by 10km)

I would say M42 way would be better as there is no stop starting etc only until i get off at J4 M54,so better fuel eco.?

What would you guys n gals think??

Well, the A38 from Alfreton down to Brum is dual carriagway most the way isn’t it? So you can do 50 there and get pretty good economy as you’re not on the limiter :wink:

You can then join the A5, which is dual and single carriageway, then after crossing the M6 north of the M54 exit you can take the Wolverhampton road on to the M54 and continue that way
