Just watch your start times ,I’ve gone back on Tuesday - sat from mon - fri ,but if I start 11 am sat and do 15 hrs it takes you into Sunday ( 2am) ,by the time you get home ,drink ,shower it’s 3 a.m ,8 hrs kip ,11 am ,that half you Sunday gone .
I know you think 15 hrs sat,but that’s the shift I find theyl( planners ) will hammer you as they’ve loads of spare trucks at w/ end so no need for it back for next driver ,also find with loads of spare trucks if you run out of hours theyl leave you in layby at w/ endswhereas in week when they need truck They will recover you .

Defiantly Wednesday - Sunday then.
Got to be Wednesday - Sunday IMO gives you hopefully Sunday evening and most Bank holidays to socialise, 
and let the missus out.

It’s not all about the money, Family time is important.
The big Companies have got us all working weekends now while the Bosses are Swanning around in their Bently’s & Jag’s spending all the profits that we make for them.
As for Tosco, Asda & all the Greedy Supermarkets/Modern Workhouses, watering down all the premium weekend working rates & making their workers work for single rate, we haven’t moved on much from the Middle Ages.

Yes, usually the type of niche jobs where they run 1 contract/1 product, and the opening times at the various customers premises dictate that you can only deliver during the day ie: delivering bulk/bagged flour to small/medium local bakeries. 26 pallet bulk artic deliveries are usually to larger manufactures/bakeries & RDC`s for their in store bakeries, these are usually 1-3 drops max.
The trucks then return back to the yard in the afternoon & are reloaded for the next day by the night shift.
Niche not for the many then it seems. A friend of mine has recently gone to gist £12.50 per hour Thursday to Tuesday , 3am starts and 8 hour shift length he reckons he’s got more quality of life than four on four off ?!
By my reckoning he will be in bed prior to starting work sometime around 6-7pm, if not earlier

No sorry he works Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Monday with Tuesday Wednesday off . And yes I’d say your right on the money with 7pm bed !!

Much obliged Tango! I’m going along with an open mind and I’ll see what they’ve got to say for themselves. If it’s not the job for me, then I’ll stay where I am. At the end of the day, my current job is great but I wish it was a bit closer to home!

I think you’d be surprised how few of the stupid o’clock starters go to bed at 6/7pm. I’ve certainly come across very few that say they do this & I don’t do it myself when doing such hours. Turning in at 6/7pm and actually going to sleep is easier said than done.
More common for drivers to go to bed at 8.30-9ish, come into work on 4/5 hours kip and try and grab snoozes through the day. It wears you down.
