If you were going to do one which one would you choose?
Is one really better than the other? Does either give you better options ? Or both pretty much same?
ADR or HIAB
Thoughts?

How are they the same one allows you to carry hazardous goods the other allows you to crane stuff off so it depends what work you are doing lol
Sweeping generalisation, but Hiab work is more likely to be local (yes there are exceptions) and ADR could be local fuel deliveries or maybe haz chems on distance work?
What do firms close to you want/need?

Both the same with regards to getting offered more/better work if you had one or the other
Try harder next time Mr smart ar se
Cheers
What kind of work is available in your area? Is there any demand for either?
What kind of work would you rather do? Do you fancy being out in all weathers loading and unloading with a hiab or would you rather have a forkie do it once you’ve messed around with the curtains.
How long have you been driving/ how much experience do you have? Spending money on ADR might be pointless if you’re still going to get knock backs because employers want two years experience.
These are what I’d be taking into consideration to decide what was best for me.

Apart from agencies advertising or delivering gas only seems to be one company regularly advertising for ADR in Lanarkshire area ( but as we know, not all jobs advertised on major job sites )
Am from building trade/landscaping background ( so graft not an issue ). I am currently working ( agency ) for a firm delivering and hand balling bags of cement etc to building sites. Could get easier work no probs but dont fancy sitting driving 4 hours one way then 4 hours back. Not for me . Dont mind the graft as well used to it. Was offered Jewsons also but wouldnt get out my bed for what they offer salary wise.
Only passed class 2 last year but plenty experience driving 7.5 t wagons over the years
Just wondering with no HIAB experience how hard would it be to get foot in door?
ADR if you live near a chemical plant or fuel importing port, HIAB if you live near a brick n block making place. Simples [emoji57]
HIAB. Having worked on Chemical plants as a subbie (not driving) and seen how poor their health and safety is , I keep as far away from them as I can. Which is why I refused to do it when asked.
ADR would be my choice.
It can count towards ALOT of CPC hours. (near enough two for one cost wise)
You MIGHT get a few quid an hour more for ADR too.
As for hiab? Been there, done that…
Wages were crap for what you did and were responsible for.
And the only thing round after leaving a hiab job, was builders merchants that were paying just the shells off the peanuts.
Adr is kind of a waste… I’ve had it a year and done 2 days work delivering beer gas. Also I did a tanker driving assessment for greenergy and passed 7 weeks ago and then dogs haven’t given me an interview yet!!
Had abit of luck though I’m going to be doing event work delivering generators on a flatbed tramping at festivals!!

FWIW, I would rather take on the right person and put them through ADR myself than take on the wrong person with ADR.
That doesn’t help at all, does it
I have both and never done any ADR work but loads of HIAB.
ADR all day, my boss put me through mine when I started off with him over 2 years ago, I’ve been on tanks since October now too, much prefer it to general haulage work
Non, just drive
