I seem to remember that the VOSA would take on a 1000 new temps, to stop every lorry from the 10th of September, to check if the driver had his/her DQC card?
What happened? Did they forget to order enough reflective jackets?

Will we get our money back?
As anybody been stopped or asked for a look of their card yet,
I used my dqc card yesterday, I was involved in an incident on the a40 yesterday, I was asked for my driving licence, I didnt have it but handed over my dqc which was accepted
Many drivers said before the deadline that this was just BS from the greedy training companies ,used to scare us into completing the 35hrs of bordem, To me it was quite obvious they was spouting ■■■■■■■■ just to get us to spend money
Surely Wombles = Highways Agency Traffic Officer, and so nothing at all (apart from possibly assisting in stopping vehicles) to do with VOSA/DVSA (or whatever they are calling themselves this week)?
Anyway, my DQC has been projecting its aura around my vehicle all month, so I’ve not been stopped
Highways Agency and the Driver
and Vehicle Standards Agency
joint on-road working pilot
The Highways Agency’s Incident Prevention Team is
working with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency
(DVSA) to develop a joint on-road working pilot.
The aim of the pilot is to assess if joint on-road working can enhance
DVSA’s existing vehicle stopping capabilities, and increase utilisation
of our own on-road staff — traffic officers.
Our traffic officers will be trained in stopping officer duties but will only
be supplementing (not replacing) DVSA current stopping capabilities. The pilot will take place at the Doxey check site (M6 J13) from 1 September 2014 for a four month period. The pilot will involve one of our vehicles and three Agency traffic officers. It is agreed that during the pilot the Agency’s priority will remain incident management. Monitoring will determine the realistic availability of our traffic officers in the event that the pilot is extended or rolled out.
The Agency and DVSA will be jointly sending out information so that
drivers and operators are aware of the role of our traffic officers during
the pilot.

only 997 left to go
.
Ask them nicely and they may be able to give you a check up from the neck up

Yes,Crossrail sites in London are checking cards
What’s it to do with Crossrail if a driver has got a DCPC card or not? They should concentrate on building instead of sticking their oar into other maters that don’t remotely involve them.
VOSA have been around a lot over the past month up here. I haven’t been pulled yet but that is more luck than anything else. They have been on my routes but either I divert or more commonly, they have moved on before I have reached them. Either way I haven’t had to produce my card yet
Roymondo is quite correct. Wombles are HATO ( Highways Agency Traffic Officers) named after the ■■■■ Jeremy Clarkson said all we did is pick up litter from lanes on the motorway. Apart from the M6 trial, and we are both DfT Agencys, we are separate to DVSA (VOSA) and will become separate even more early next year when we become a GovCO. Don’t ask me what that means??
I realise that, I called them ‘wombles’ because the original article indicated that these part timers would only be trained and used to check DQC and or licences.
I.e. The VOSA chap would pull the trucks , in services and everywhere else , and the minions would do the checking.

It wouldn’t be so bad if you did. At least the tax-payers would then get some value for money, which they don’t while you people doing your " unnecessary jobs created by government for people who would otherwise be unemployed" are parked in lay-bys comparing smart phones
And the same goes for the mob that you aspire to. Last night I was rash enough to leave Washington services heading up for the 69. (the road that is, not the, err, position ). Crawling through the cone works at all of 10 mph, in a 40 zone , I passed at least 5 squad cars parked-up doing sod all!! Obviously given the area and the locals being non too bright, I understand why the filth are there. But at least give them something to do and make them earn their wages. Can policeman not pick litter from the verges or sweep up while waiting for the inevitable shunt?
