It is a pass but not San Bernardino…not a million miles away though
MONt de Lans by Mizoen
Mont Cenis.
colonel its yours well done.
It was mt cenis taken about 15 years ago
Interesting, toowise, I thought there was a weight limit imposed over Mont Cenis after they built the Frejus Tunnel.
Yeah there was Colonel, it was 19t
We used to do loads out of Florence of empty plastic boxes, but they didnt interlock so with a full trailer load we only grossed just under 18t
Flying back home
A nice route to come home. It is a long while ago since I went over the Cenis, but then it is a long while ago since I did that kind of work. I miss those days, even now.
If I was light enough going out I always went Swiss to save the tunnel charges, quicker as well.
Long time since I went that way too Colonel. That photo was taken in about 91 or 92
Heres another photo taken later same day.(soory about the blur, there was a bit of wind IIRC and the camera strap blew up)
I never was much of a camera man, and it is only now that I regret that I did not take many photos of my time running abroad. I just tended to take them throught the front windscreen and that is not the way to take decent photographs.
very true mate, a lot of mine are likethat , looking at the world through a windscreen
I took a lot more after I sold my old SLR camera with 4 different lenses and bought a good point and shoot type camera.
Now got a new digital and have sort of come back to it, lot easier and cheaper now.

I think that must be the biggest regret of so many people on these forums. It is certainly mine! My next purchase will be a tripod, even with a point and shoot it has to be worth the effort.
When i had the old 35mm SLR camera I went out and bought all the equipment (this was back in about 1985. long time before digital), tripod, remote shutter button, 3 different lenses plus a variable telephoto lens, extra film pack and fast motorised shutter release,
I felt like one of the paparazzi
However my best pictures by far were taken on the point and shoot camera i bought after.
Just goes to show its better to have minimal equipment you can use well than tons of equipment you dont know how to use.
