Hi, I’m British male and looking to find agency where they would keep me busy for next 3-4 months as Class 1 Trunking Driver. 4 years expierience on UK roads.
Called Extra Staff in Coventry, but class 2 for Hermes now there. I’m flexible with location(I’ll rent room where necessary).
Just genuine answers as(some) Agencies are sweet talking me promising everything. Any help appreciated.

It’s just possible that it might not all be sweet talk.Especially if you tell them from the start that you won’t be messed around with any calls for substandard work.
Then if they still lie after that to you just drop them in it on arrival by walking away from any misrepresented job.
Also bearing in mind that trunking often isn’t the job it once was with hub systems and drivers often expected to get involved in hub system sort and handling operations.
Might just as well also take class 2 trunking as any other in that regerd it’s all money in the bank for similar work just a shorter truck.

City Link…
Job offer before it went pop.
‘Hi Maximillion can you do City Link tonight out of Hull? Drive to the hub then tip and re-load and just head back’.
‘When do I get a break?’
‘Well because (gigling in the background) it’s tight for time, the drivers have a nap on the way back’.
‘Yeh, ok, bye then’.
If you can get on TNT out of Atherstone on nights, the majority of that work is/was drop swap and drive.
Does anyone know what agency is on site for Sainsbury in Colseshill, Birmingham?
yep, just google it, or are you “on pot” at the moment “top no”,
you must try harder… ■■■■…

What is it with your constant waffle about this subject? I’ve done a fair amount of trunking and not once have I unloaded. I drive up a motorway to a hub and reverse on a bay. Drop the trailers, pick up an empty then drive away.
If only for health and safetys sake and potential theft, they don’t want drivers in the warehouse.
Not all jobs these days are what you seem to think they are. How many have you done recently out of curiosity? I’ve not been driving long but I’ve been at a fair few companies and only once have I had to load or unload and that’s a multi collection for a TNT subby.

TNT Atherstone/Kingsbury is still generally drop and swap. Crap work though
I’ll add an edit:
To be fair it’s not crap work, it’s easy. I just ended up having to do a few shifts for a co that subs there and their trucks have bits falling off them so I hated it.

Tell us more about this hub stystem that operates a direct trailer swap system unless you’re lucky enough to be on a long hub connection which doesn’t allow enough time to work in the warehouse.Like Scotch to Midlands.
Otherwise no you’ve obviously not done enough ‘trunking’ to have met the situation whereby they say thay ain’t going to pay you to sit watching the tele or reading for the 4 or more hours you’ve got spare from arrival to leaving during the transhipment operation.Did you actually read the City Link example posted.
Health and safety if only anyone had given a zb about mine when the job of hand balling trailer loads off and then on night after night was the final straw which put me out of the job before the age of 50.Also don’t remember the union giving a zb about the security issue when they agreed to us doing the job on our behalf without consultation let alone vote.
What put you out of the job before 50 is the inalienable fact that you’re bone idle. The end.
Tennants in West Bromwich are after class 2 adr , they do class 1 too delivering adblue. …
google.com/search?q=tennant … tivrt=jobs
Slightly further afield but Rhys Davis are after class 1 adr (curtain side ) drivers out of Wellesbourne just off j15 M40…
Also if any one else is interested Hacklings are after class 1 adr drivers for Swindon and Bourton on the water…
Try RGF they take anyone on.

Being bone idle doesn’t generally result in termination of employment on medical grounds after 15 years service.Subject to both NHS and Company medical advice and limited compensation with an admission of contributing to the ‘injury’ in question owing to the duties involved.Nor still working for months in extreme pain up to that point after diagnosis.

Your English is very good but there’s absolutely no way you are a native British speaker.

So you’re just talking about city link?
DHL - jaguar Land Rover contract - trailer swap.
John Lewis - trailer swap
TNT Every depot - trailer swap
Cotton traders - feet up Netflix on whilst they unload
Boden - as above
Ocado - feet up Netflix on whilst they unload
This recent NHS stuff - trailer swaps or Netflix whilst unloaded
I could go on, as I’m sure many others could, but that doesn’t fit your narrative of your constant posts that always say the same thing. You couldn’t get on euro because other drivers had it, you think they should have job shared. All that’s around nowadays is local multi drop pallet work or builders merchants. There no driving jobs available as they all want you to do 90% other work with 10% driving and on and on and on.
Seems in my “limited trucking experience” I’ve yet to actually see any of the things you constantly dribble about. Maybe my time will come eh

They’re selling that one well. I was almost tempted until I saw the pallet force tab

No I’m not talking about ‘City Link’.
I’m talking about one of numerous other hub system type trunking operations.
While you’re obviously talking about RDC’s.
An RDC ain’t the same thing as a tip and turn transhipment hub system operation of the type which many places adopted. As I said unless you’re running from Scotch it’s generally going involve a 10 hour shift made up of 4-6 hours driving.
Which leaves lots of scope for any manager out to make a name for themselves to say that drivers must work in the warehouse on the sort and transhipment to make the rest of the time up because the guvnor is ‘paying’ for it.
Words like ‘the sort’ and ‘transhipment’ and ‘tip and turn’ obviously mean nothing to you.
As for TNT some say their sort and transhipment operation is automated.
As far as I know there’s no automated machine that can strip and loose load an artic box trailer floor to ceiling front to back. But if there is I’d like to see it working.
Yep maybe your time will come.It will obviously be a shock if/when it does.

I don’t JUST visit RDC’s, although lots are. Have you actually dropped a trailer at a depot only to be grabbed by the warehouse and told you need to get inside and start unloading the trailer? Everywhere I have been, and it’s lots of places both large and small, none of them, NONE, have ever wanted me anywhere near the warehouse.
And it won’t be a shock to me, as I won’t be taking any job where they expect me to unload a trailer just because “I’m being paid”. Warehouse staff are paid, that’s their job.
Can you imagine a driver does himself a serious injury whilst carrying out this thing you claim, only when the investigation starts the question is asked, what was he doing there? You may end up with those shenanigans with a small family run general haulage firm, but it depends greatly whether you want to work for such an outfit. It is by no means the norm like you claim.
I hope you find your job shared euro bulk haul trunking run. All the best

Did you actually read what I wrote.I wasn’t grabbed by the warehouse.
I was informed by upper management that the duties in question were the subject of a Union aggreement made without any consultation or my knowledge and further refusal by anyone, including myself, would result in summary dismissal after usual warnings which I ran up to verbal and written. They then effectively said your move.
The ‘investigation’ didn’t need to start they knew exactly what I was doing there because they had made the aggreement with the Union for me and others to do it using the disciplinary system to enforce it.
It also doesn’t take much deduction to work out that I’m not referring to a ‘small family run general haulage outfit’.In fact that couldn’t possibly be further from the reality.
Oh and ironically I actually ended my career doing more or less the last direct trunking operation within our side of the operation after all that.
Too late the damage was done by then.
